Aftertime for Correspondence

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"Did you read my letter? Ah wait. You did before." His tone went from accusatory to ashamed. "I felt that asking for a blanket was too much, but you can have mines if you want."

[Kakita Kenji]

"No, no, no it's alright, i can wait." Kenji said
"You do care for me" he said with a smile

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He smiled slightly back. "People should honor their names. What's the meaning of yours?"

[Kakita Kenji]

"Strong, second Son" Kenji admitted. "I don't know if it is fitting, but i give my best"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He laughed a little. "Not very strong as far I have seen on the Jiujitsu training."

[Kakita Kenji]

Kenji laughed too "Well, not my most glorious fight, but i guess it was a good lesson, i certantly feel stronger now"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"Do you think that if I put Ji on my name, people will think I'm a second son? I don't want that." Tea arrived.

[Kakita Kenji]

"Maybe? Naming Convention differs from Clan to Clan?"

Kenji took a sip from his tea

"Do you have any siblings?"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"Only a sister. Three years old. Name is Satsuko. And I think ji is way more easily associated with second rather than affectionate. Affection is an underrated virtue overall."
He picks the brush and paints over the folded letter where it should be sent, and who should receive it. Shiba Akinori should be happy.

[Kakita Kenji]

He flinched at the affection part "Yes, affection is indeed a rare virtue"

He took another sip of his tea.

"You have a younger sibilng to care of? This is nice. I have two older Sisters and had an older Brother"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"Never saw her. Doubt I will one day unless she is sent to the Engineering school or I get permission for the trip. But having older siblings at the house should suck."

[Kakita Kenji]

"Ahh, no. My Sisters are pretty nice. One is a Sowrdsmith, the other is a Diplomat. I learned one or two things from them" he said with a melancholy smile

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"Didn't knew that Crane samurai did swords too, but now Doji-san makes more sense. It's the main function of the Kaiu on the Crab, because Kaiu-sama was a smith."

[Kakita Kenji]

"We hold katanas in high esteem, the swordsmiths are in constant conflict with the one who makes the most beautiful katana. But I've heard of kaiu blades, rumour has it that no one can break them. Is that true?"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"It is. They are so resistant that they can't be sharpened, yet they never lose edge, and can cut through stone. But not every blade is a Kaiu blade, of course, the technique is only teached to the best Engineers."

[Kakita Kenji]

"So one day, you learn how to make them?" Kenji siad, encouraging his friend

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"Maybe? My interest in weaponsmithing is almost null for now. I can't be as flexible as other Kaiu."

[Kakita Kenji]

"Why is that? I know you want to become a Warmaster, will they don't teach you when your main Duty is to lead Troops?" Kenji asked

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"Of course they will, just as I know how to build and identify structure and their parts like an Engineer. But not what they teach the most."

[Kakita Kenji]

"There are alot of Secrets in the Duellist Dojo too, so i guess you have to proof yourself as much as i do."
