No, youll roll for dazed on the first round of combat you enter (before you take actions) and then at the reactions stage of each combat after.

Nope, these are strange horses, jut their natural reaction to a new rider they are unfamiliar with who is super quick. Horses are skittish animals!

for the combat event part of the event rules say characters cannot use the full attack stance while mounted. Does this negate the horsemanship mastery 3 that says they can use the full attack stance while mounted.

No, the masteries apply. Those are just reminders for people in case they forget what being mounted or what being dazed meant!

If my opponent surrenders before the assessment phase, would the assessment roll count (and as such the luck that would have been used)? Also does quick apply to a duel?

yes, your roll still counts, unless they surrendered before you rolled and you missed it.

Quick does not apply, as it specifies Combat round, and duels are not a combat/skirmish until after the first strike.

So, can I use commune to convince the water kami to let Kokyou out of the ice?

Assuming not, how many raises to summon hot water to try melt the ice so Kokyou can get free/lower the TN to break out?

The party freezing part of the battleground, including PCs would definitely have me rolling off my chair giggling at the table. That was a fantastic move, Mai.

You can't choose to fail the roll unfortunately, have to roll the dice. You can use a complex to get him out, since it would be contested vs yourself, so you cant win or lose, therefore uh, you break the ice

What about the commute and summon questions? Either of those work?
