"You know nothing of my place, Hitoshi-san," she said. It was true she did not face all the hardships he did, but there was a very different kind of danger in growing up in the Imperial Families. One she would not illustrate for him. Only remind him he had no right to speak of her upbringing.

"And I do not question that you have reason to be angry. I am telling you, as someone who has spent most of her years in and around the courts of those who are arrayed against you: letting your temper rule you will give them all the more power in bringing you low. Use your anger to drive the fires of your soul. Do not let it consume you."

Her words were unquestionably sincere, but his stubbornness was also obviously frustrating.

He nods at her and opens and closes his fist to ease the tension he feels inside his body, but stays silent

[Otomo Nobuko]

"I did not invite you here to chastise you," she sighed, trying to let go of that frustration. "I want you to be aware you are not without allies. That should something happen, you do not have to fight through it alone."

[Vutall]

"It is good to know, Otomo-sama, and you have my thanks. I do wonder though, what is in it for you? I have learned that no one does anything just for the sake of it."

[Otomo Nobuko]

"And you would be right," she said, her soft smile returning. "I do this because it was asked of me by someone greater than myself who does not wish to see you unfairly pushed aside, but who also does not have the ability to intercede directly. The paths we must walk are complicated ones."

[Vutall]

"Someone greater than you? Who, might I ask?"

[Otomo Nobuko]

"That, I cannot say," she answered. "It is better if you do not know your benefactors name at this time. To learn it before they are ready for you to could cause too many ripples. There are enough as is and we are already unprepared to deal with the waves that have been breaking over us. Creating more is something to avoid."

[Vutall]

"I see. Well then, know you have my thanks."

[Otomo Nobuko]

"You are welcome."

She bowed to him to indicate that he could take his leave if he wanted.

"You have done well, Hitoshi-san. You have already proven yourself against their standards despite efforts to stop you. Though many may not be aware of the significance of this feat, it is still one to be respected."

[Vutall]

"No one can stop the storm, Otomo-sama. No one. "

[Otomo Nobuko]

"Having seen Kokyou, Mai, and now you, I believe that."

[Vutall]

"Kokyou and Mai are both excellent examples of our clan. I am glad you have gotten to spend time with them."

[Otomo Nobuko]

"I am not certain I agree entirely with that assessment of Kokyou," she replied with obvious amusement, "but he is certainly the embodiment of a storm that cannot be stopped."

[Vutall]

"What gives you hesitation about Kokyou?"

[Otomo Nobuko]

"He is far too much of a scoundrel," she laughed. "He is a good man, with a good heart. But of the two, Mai is the example one should try to emulate and Kokyou the one to be inspired by."

[Vutall]

"Hm. I will consider that then."

[Otomo Nobuko]

"Do you feel differently?" she asked, curious. "If so, that is fine. I have only known them in short bursts of time spent together spread out across the last year. Have you more experience with them?"

[Vutall]

"I have only met him here, and my opinion of him is from observing his performance. I know nothing of his character in person."

[Otomo Nobuko]

"Well, give yourself more time and perhaps you will know him better," she said, shrugging. Kokyou was... Kokyou.

"We have spoken of the matter I wished to address. If you wish to ask anything of me, you may do so. Otherwise, your time is valuable and yours to use as you see fit."

So if he wanted to sit and finish the tea with her, he could. She'd be enjoying the peace of it until the pot was empty.

"I have nothing more on my mind at the moment, but it is enjoyable to just sit and share tea, if that would be your pleasure"
