Nijiro appears at the start of the race, wearing a simple gi that is threadbare in places and not his size. It seems perhaps all of the money he should have spent on clothes he squandered somewhere else.

Turning he moves to his cousin "Son of the Kitsu, most loyal and wise, I have found that the secret to the obstacle course is not preparing for the challenge ahead, but to start with a rhythm, and stay within it, no matter what happens." He pauses...

"Kitsu san, have you ever heard our Armies as they march in training? They do something called a cadence, are you familiar with it? If so, I would like to propose we of course compete to our best, but do it in such a way no one forgets we are Lion, by carrying a cadence, what do you say?"

The shugenja nods to Nijiro.

"I believe that would send quite the message of unity, while still keeping to the spirit of the test, Ikoma-san"

Nijiro smiles fondly at his cousin "Very well, I know a few" He starts a clap, as he claps he steps down on his left foot

"So when we start, I call out a line, and you respond with 'Hard work, work' ok? and remember to keep the time, sama."

At the sound to start Nijoro starts clapping his hands, keeping in time to his run as he starts the cadence

I get up bout' a quarter to three (Hard work, work)

Nijoro stays by the Kitsu's side. keeping up the rhythm and rhyme.

As the two run, Nijiro keeps the time, until the last sprint, where it seems Nijiro starts to run with a limp in his leg. He tries to keep the pace, but cant. As he limps across the finish line, he notices the victorious Kitsu get the fame he deserves. He limps away, people not noticing or following him as he leaves the area.....

Tsubasa looks out afer Nijiro and contemplates going after him to offer the water kami to help with the limp, but frowns about something and shakes their head, letting Nijiro have his space.
