"So anything you're looking forward to learning?"

[Toritaka Sasaiko]

The answer comes swiftly. "Law and how to enforce it."

[Utaku Ichiro]

"Enforce it, huh? Think they'll let the priests learn to duel then?"

[Toritaka Sasaiko]

"They might. But there is more to it than that. Precedent, history, procedure, administration--all of it rewards a keen mind. And there is always more training that can be taken later."

She smiles. "I might even learn how to ride a horse."

[Utaku Ichiro]

"I should hope so. A school that doesn't teach the basics doesn't much deserve the name. Horse, bow, and sword. Any samurai should know all three at least in theory. Those, duty, and honor are what define us."

[Toritaka Sasaiko]

Your mouth is going to get you into trouble.

"I've not heard that the Crab teach riding as a matter of course. Would you speak against their schools so?"

Unicorn are allied with Crab, right?

"Nor have I heard that the Kakita do, and His Majesty is said to have studied with them. Would He study an unworthy thing?"

[Utaku Ichiro]

"I am sure they teach it. I cannot speak of the failings of those who choose not to learn it. Kyūba no michi defines a warrior."

[Toritaka Sasaiko]

"Hm."

Sasaiko proceeds silently for a while, then says "Perhaps we ought to make for the city gates. The time approaches for us to make our way to Hirosaka, I believe, and it would not do to be tardy."

[Utaku Ichiro]

A grin, "The children of the wind are never late, only unexpected. Race you there?"

[Toritaka Sasaiko]

Sasaiko grins and moves off swiftly. It will be clear that she has some training as an athlete as she does.

[Utaku Ichiro]

The young Utaku's form was graceful and swift. Though there was no great initial bust of speed his long, loping strides quickly covered distance and were clearly designed for long-term stamina.

[Toritaka Sasaiko]

Sasaiko laughs as the boy keeps up with her.
