I'm not a fan of this. While I get people like their sigs, when multiple lines get created in sigs it makes them really long (longer than thread posts) and you get whole pages taken up by them

So should I just get rid of some clarifying text in my signature and just assume everyone knows I'm in a vassal family?

It it looks to be an issue I can readdress it. I do know that for whatever reason, the sig size wise is related to your profile picture, so all the extra space iss there regardless of the text inside the sig.

Made mines more compact. Although I find those too small to be a hassle I know the feeling from when I tried to use a dating game's forum and each signature took my whole screen.

I used to play My Candy Love when I was younger. I rped back then, but couldn't afford to rp on the MCL forums. Obnoxious signature length + long minimum action inputs, which more than not led to people describing unnecessary things in extreme detail (like looking up to the sky and seeing the perpendicularly aligned clouds over your head when the looking to the sky part was already pretty unnecessary in the first place) as they lacked what more to say on the reply but needed to meet the quota.
