Contested Investigation vs Sincerity (Honesty)
If you do not believe someone, you can roll investigation to see if they are being honest with you. Failure by the Investigation roll does not mean the Sincerity roll is not true, but more the Investigation roll not being able to get a good read on how they feel about it. The Sincerity roller can voluntarily fail this roll, letting the investigator see the truth of their statement clearly.

--Note: If OOC a player wants to believe, they do not need to take into consideration the roll and can just accept that they are being told the truth, but remember to look at it through their characters eyes when making the consideration

Well, seeing Kokyou mold the earth, she must be telling the truth. She approaches Kokyou, tapping him on the shoulder with her other hand on her hip like a mother trying to guide her insolent and rowdy child. However, instead of simply demanding the stone, she decides that negotiating for it would be more effective against someone like him.

"Kokyou, do you like surprises? If you hand the stone over right now, I'll give you a gift."

[Kitsune Setsuna]

Setsuna grabs a crystal as well, curious about it. He pulls out a scroll with a muddy thumbprint and tries to inquire further but gets nothing. Bastards.

Since there's crystals he doesn't bother checking if anyone followed them, but that would be odd as sneaking down a rope is quite a feat. "We should probably turn this in to Agasha Sumiko-dono..." He said, though he didn't seem thrilled at the idea of giving this new thing up. Speaking of rope, if they tied up the ronin how were they going to haul her up now if Ichiro had left?

Not caring for the tap in the shoulder, Kokyou raises his hands up like a maestro and lifts the wall to the ceiling, enclosing his dojo mates into the tunnel.

“Harharhar!” He cackles for the other side, “I be a bloody Shugenja at last!”

"I think we should turn this stuff in to the magistrate," Qiang said. "I bet she took some of it from the temple."

Qiang won't stop people from taking crystals but will try to see the other stuff turned in to the authorities.

Kokyou puts his hands down, dismounting the wall to look at his friends and laugh. “Ye all thought I be trappin’ ye inside. Haaar. But I fancy ye, me hearties. I be foolin’ ‘round.”

After some time has passed, Ichiro and Agasha Sumiko return back to the cavern. The Ruby Champion is in awe at the find, and commends the students for their discovery. She also chastizes them all for sneaking out and bothering the heimen village leader, explaining how even though he may be a peasant, he still has very important tasks to conduct and shouldn't be bothered by children for some kind of game.

She will then ask for all students to come with her and she drags Keina to her feet, escorting everyone out of the cavern. She also takes Keina's daisho, but leaves everything else to the students, Keina having told her that she took nothing from the temple. Keina does confess that she killed a monk, explaining how he would not let her pass to study the ancient tablet in the guest house, of which she needed to find this ruin.

The champion seems saddened at the news, knowing that even having been part of the discovery, Keina will likely still be executed for her crimes by the local magistrate for the death. Keina hangs her head in shame and is silent as the two leave the cavern, and eventually dojo.

The well-hidden bird in the shadows watched the whole scene with confusion, lowering herself down to whisper (or quietly squark?) to the fox near her.

"What is all this Zashi-kun?"

[Utaku Ichiro]

(If the other belongings are intentionally left to the students Ichiro will also take one of the koku before departing to get some sleep. Having been absent when Kokyu tested the relic he still doesn't know it's real plus magic's not really his thing. So he won't try to stake any claim on it.)

[Matsu Qiang]

Matsu Qiang tried to divide the spoils as fairly as he could.

"There's six crystals and six koku, so it seems fair that everyone should get one of each," he began. "Kokyou already figured out what to do with the stone, so I think he should hold onto it. And Kazuko did the best at the calligraphy test, so I think she should get the scroll; maybe she can make some sense of it."

"What do you think?" Qiang asked, looking at each of his companions.

[Kokyou]

Kokyou nodded to Qiang and distributed the loot in the fashion the suggested. Also, he fetched a crystal to himself, since there were six.

[Kakita Kenji]

We should meet and discuss the events some other time, as soon as Utaku-San is here with a sensei, we probably won't have much time left to work it all out".
Kenji said and took his share. He knew who would be happy about the money.
