Event: Eyes in the Dark

[Kitsune Setsuna]

  Kitsune Setsuna, Fox Clanner and dreamy dreamer extraordinaire, had woken up for reasons that were likely unrelated to screaming. Just kidding, it was totally because of screaming. You'd think he'd be afraid or scared like a normal person but in reality he was just curious. After all, maybe someone had a nightmare or something, and he was an expert on the subject. So when he saw a Crab, a Phoenix, and two Mantis moving in the night, he just followed right along behind them. Not attempting to be stealthy, just a boy walking barefoot behind them. In time, all would be revealed, so he didn't ask what was going on. In time, they ended up at the sensei barracks; the whole gang seemed pretty concerned. Not him though. After all, adults were soon to be around.
  
  "Kitsune Setsuna, of the Fox Clan," he introduced himself to the trio of backs. It was time to be captain obvious. "Have you tried waking her up?" Beat. "With smelling salts and the like? Or ice water?"

[Kokyou]

Kokyou was already half way to the adult barracks, wondering if he would be able to see Utaku-sensei in her sleeping robes. He looks to the Kitsune and shrugs, “She be fever hot and limp. Does nah move ‘r reply.”

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"I think we need to grab jade. Just in case." He nodded. Jade was his only known solution to anything not mundane. If it was anything violent it would be good to call Eiko over.

[Kaito Kai]

"Of course, please follow me." Kai, laser-focused brought the Asako on back the direction they came.

It was a surprise, then, to have run back into Kokyou and Mai.

"Here she is, sensei."

[Vutall]

The sensei follows quickly and looks at the Mantis.

"Please, set her down gently. Let me look at her. What happened?"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He would help Kokyou although not being very strong himself, waiting for others to explain what happened.

  So they hadn't tried ice water yet, is what he got from that. He pulled back his sleeves and drew a scroll from his case, unfurling it. Still pretty new and untouched. The man cleared his throat with a small "Ahem," and then began. From his lips came words that no one would understand, less than Kokyou's rough dialect even. A single hand was extended outwards as he began to plea to the mikokami to bring forth water to try to wake the sleeping Mantis. When it was done, lo and behold; he did it. A cube of water formed above Mai's face, assembling bit by bit as the water kami heeded his call.
  
  And then very unceremoniously, it all fell down in a splash onto the sleeping girl's face, near freezing, as any nearby people who might get splashed might notice. He was so HELPFUL! The man couldn't help but grin broadly, so proud of his abilities.

[Mai]

Mai was now unconscious and wet.

[Vutall]

Asako Himeya jumped back and glared.

"Kitsune-san! That is NOT helpful!"

She looks again to Mai and her concern grows deeper.

"Though, it should have woken her..."

[Kokyou]

Kokyou does as instructed and replies. “My Clanmate woke up. In the night. She screamed loudly. In pain. I checked. No reply. Not moving. I tought: sensei. Lifted her. Here she is. She feels hot.”

He replies slowly, carefully trying to impress the sensei with his ability to not use his dashing accent.

Then, water appears and splashes over Mai’s face... and Kokyou. Blinking, he looks up, cursing the heavens. “Ye jumped up grass combin' chunk O' bat spit! Why th’ goblin shite it be rainin’ indoors?”

[Vutall]

The woman nods and is examining the soaking girl.

"Did anyone see or sense anything?"

[Kaito Kai]

Kai closed their eyes as some of the freezing water splashed on them. Wiping it away with the back of their hand, they shot a glare at Setsuna.

Kai's eyes narrowed for a moment, then they blinked and shook their head. Again, more important things to worry about than what surely was a combination of tiredness and weird tricks of the light.

"Asako-sensei, I don't know if the others saw it, but there was someone - or something - peeking through the shoji in the student dormitories. The stories say never to stare back, for that's how ghosts get you. Do you think...?"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

Seeing the poor girl, all wet, he takes the things on his obi and out them on the ground before untying it, holding over the two parts of his kimono so he wouldn't look... Very indecent... Whilst using the fabric to clean her face from the water.
"She is ice cold..."
Probably because the water was ice cold.
"I only heard a scream, and went to see what happened, until I found the others running."

[Kaito Haruki]

Haruki ignores whatever feeling he gets, assuming if he feels like someone is watching him, it would be one of the other students. Regardless, he needs to ask someone to help him repair them tomorrow.

  Setsuna had to work extra hard to keep the smug out of his voice. "Yes, it was unhelpful, as it turns out. Which means this must be the work of something not normal. We can likely skip the smelling salts." The scroll was lovingly rolled up and placed back into his case, a job well done. This must be the work of an enemy sta-- supernatural entity.
  
  "It is just the water kami at work, Mantis-san." He was still calm and oddly delighted about the whole thing. A sensei watched him cast a spell in front of everyone and everything. He flashed a cheeky smile at the glaring Kaito; jealousy expressed itself in many ways, Phoenix clan ain't got nothin' on this.
  
  "I could try speaking with the kami next. They might know what is going on. I myself know exactly nothing." He held up a finger and thumb pressed together in a 0 sign for emphasis.

[Vutall]

"Your skills are not needed now, Kitsune-san, Thank you."

The sensei says quite pointedly.

"Eyes you say? Isawa no Kaito-san? Hmmm."

She thinks for a moment.

"Please, all of you, keep watch"

She walks back into the sensei barracks and returns quickly with a large satchel stuffed with scrolls.

"I will see what is troubling her"

She takes out a scroll and whispers a prayer, her eyes rolling into the back of her head when she finishes.

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He nodded and saw the shugenja... spirit away. He paid attention to his surroundings, looking around for anything whilst trying back his obi. It should be some shugenja thing, so he was not worried.
...Or was it not?

  Setsuna keeps watch.

After a few moments, the sensei's eyes roll back to normal and she gasps, placing a hand on her forehead in pain.

"She has had a large portion of her spirit eaten, a creature from Gaki-do attacked her."

She puts her scroll away and pulls out another, whispering to the Kami again, this time the water summoned by the Kitsune responding to her prayer and rushing into Mai.

Mai wakes up. The last thing she remembers is some pervert looking through the shoji screen and now she's in a different room, surrounded by people and..... wet?

She blinks a few times. "Do I want to know what happened?"
