Kunio knew what he saw, if only for a moment. He saw the image of his grandfather split into 2 parts, one going towards Kazuko (formerly)-san and the other to Matsu Qiang (also fomerly). These two splits were of a simple clothed man who looks like he wandered through the forests for several days and the warrior who was depicted in paintings of the marriage into the Kaito-family all those years ago. This issue comes up time and time again, and hopefully with his newfound skill, Kunio will be granted permission to resolve this issue once and for all. He writes a letter to his lord explaining his failure to win the tournament and requests to conduct an unorthadox Musha Shugyo, instead of going around the empire itself to learn the basics of other techniques, he will go further north and find the ones who taught Kakita-Shinyo himself.

Then, he begins preparing the dozens of eggs, vegetables, and fruit that are to be his final sendoff to the friends he made at Hirosaka. For Haruki will be no more, Kunio will only be heard about in letters for now, and Batu will take their place. Unfortunately, like everything else important to him today, no amount of fancy things will make it possible for him to succeed. The dish is rather plain for all, looking more like any other peasant made dish.
