(Day 1, LM) Count Your Coin

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He takes the piece of wood under his arm. "I know, I know. I just didn't think it was taken, like, that far. But I'm not complaining about that. I suppose it was easier than haggling in the Yasuki lands, anyway, where every heimin should already be expecting this?"

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

"It helps I think, that he's used to artisans with more money then sense." He looks towards where the Kakita Artisan school is. "But yeah, he didn't recognize the Yasuki mon. We're not often allowed in Crane markets."

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He started to laugh and then put the back of his hand in front of his mouth to hide it, trying to recover face. "Like, really banned in Crane... Ah. I forgot about the Yasuki war."

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

A brief nod. "Hai. But as long as we're on a roll, let's get those other things!"

It proves easy enough to find the tools stall, it was nearby. And at reasonable rates enough that Ginkarasu doesn't even need to haggle!

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He thought that Ginkarasu probably saw that although his pouch was heavy, most coins on it were zeni. He was grateful, and although it still felt somewhat bitter, they discussed it before already.
"Did you not try to haggle this time?"

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

A shake of his head. "Don't haggle for the tools you use to make things. If they're bad, the one who made things knows they'll suffer the wrath of those who use them. If they're good, then everything you make is a testament to their work as well." He looks to Aiichiro, "Plus, they live in basically the capital of Kakita Artisans. If they sold bad tools here, I'm pretty sure they'd be run out of town or killed long before now."

After the tools are dropped off in a neat box to hold them, Ginkarasu drops the 3 bu on the counter and asks who might have any jade in the market. He smiles and dips his head in thanks.

The pouch seems to have been a different one then the one the zeni had come out of.

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

Aiichiro knew he only had one bu.
"I thought you were buying the wood and I would rent the tools. Thank you, Ginkarasu-san, nevertheless. Are we getting jade or going to the forge now?"

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

"Jade's probably the more difficult thing, and this way you have the tools forever." He answers the last question first.

"Besides, once you find the forge, you'll probably getting right to work, and I should make sure you see the jade, yeah?"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He makes an open gesture with his arm. "Lead the way then, golden carp."

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

He grins a bit at that. "Okay!"

This one takes a bit longer. Most of the jade was too small, or made into ornate figurines.

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He frowns at the figurines. "Why is there so much shaped jade at a Kakita market? I could understand it on the Daidoji markets, but here it seems odd."

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

"Maybe it's here because of the Topaz Championship?" He muses, just wanting to find some simple jade. A figurine would cost more.

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"Ah, right. So maybe it indicates another guest is someone who cares for appearances and goes to the Wall? Maybe the last Crane is a Daidoji? Would make sense we didn't find him on the dojo. Should be avoiding us."

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

"Could be! Or maybe they expect some of the Asako Inquisitors to be present? Oooo! Or they heard about our training somehow?"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"I don't think they would think we would buy nice-looking jade. So I also ruled out the Moto."

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

"Hmmm. Maybe. Or maybe they're more concerned, because they heard about the undercity and what lived there?"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"Probably, probably. It's because of it I bought jade for the travel. Also because no jade is enough jade."

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

Finally they find one stall that has some jade waiting to be carved by an artisan, and Ginkarasu manages to put down a koku to get a finger of jade for himself.

He holds it up before they leave, just to make sure Aiichiro approves.

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He nods. "Going out without at least some jade is bad luck." Aiichiro explains. "I saw the forge on our way. It is northwest from here. North-northwest, roughly. Let's get going." He starts to walk again.

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

A quick nod. "Hai!"

He does turn back to thank the merchant quickly with a wave, before walking behind Aiichiro a step.
