(Day 1, LE) Popup Event: Street Justice

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Kaidan nodded. He smiled under his mask. "Let's go and bring our testimony." as he followed.

[Kakita Kenji]

"We are right behind you, Yoriki-sama," Kenji said, waiting to be led by the Yoriki.

[Vutall]

It wasn't long before they arrived at the Magistrate estate.

"Ah, good work"

One of the samurai there, a Magistrate of the Crane, calls out to the Yoriki.

"Another theif, I take it?"

He looks to the samurai and gives a short bow.

"Have you testimony against this boy?"

[Kakita Kenji]

"Greetings, Magistrate-sama, my name is Kakita Kenji, an honor to meet you. To whom do I have the honor?" Kenji began.
"I can testify that this young man ran away from us when one of your Yoriki called out for a thief. However, Bayushi-san here caught the alleged thief and interrogated him before I or Akodo-san arrived. A Mantis was also there, but he left the scene as soon as your yoriki was on his way.

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Kaidan interjected by raising a finger. When given the opportunity the young Bayushi spoke. "It was our Mantis friend who apprehended the young man. I think there was a bit of mistake. This young man may have taken a loaf of bread without paying but he is willing to pay the patron."

[Akodo Kichiro]

Kichiro squints his eyes hard at the twisting truths but does not interject.

"Hai magistrate-sama. He did make the mistake of taking bread without paying... and running very quickly away." Past his On he clenched his teeth at these twists and turns.

"The penalty for theft is quite clear, and no one mistakenly takes bread. Come along now, let's get you to your cell. "

[Bayushi Kaidan]

"Oh... I see... how poorly of the Crane are of treating their peasants like, allowing them to go hungry and when one takes food and is willing to pay when caught it will be tossed to die of hunger inside a cell." He placed his hand on his chin. "Really... Hmmm..." He looked at Kenji then back to the magistrate. "But if you believe tossing him in a cell will solve your problem then go ahead."

[Kakita Kenji]

It was a provocation. Quite a simple provocation, but one that called into question the honour of the clan. "Bayushi-san! How dare you question the crane's compassion! Of course we take care of our peasants, don't we, Magistrate-Sama?" Kenji replied incensed.

[Akodo Kichiro]

Soon as the scorpion's stinging words are spoken, Kichiro literally begins to distance himself from the two slowly. Small step, little by little, maybe they won't remember they came together as a group. Once attention circled back towards him standing aside alone Kichiro stares back blankly then shrugs. "We apprehended a criminal and brought him in for judgement. Magistrate-sama is well within his right to pass judgement as he see's fit." A Lion he may be but he isn't about to start disrespecting his hosts in this tournament.

"Charged with righteous authority Magistrate-sama will make the right call."

[Vutall]

The Magistrate eyes Kaiden and shakes his head.

"We have no trouble feeding our people, Bayushi-san. This one is just greedy. He should know better. A few days in a cell won't harm him, and teach him to know his place."

[Bayushi Kaidan]

”Please, feed the poor soul while he is in there. My grandmother, tells me that sometimes it is better to feed the hungry than provoke Inari's wrath.” He nodded. He looked at Chen. ”When you are freed, try and find me, Chen.”

[Kakita Kenji]

Kenji bowed and left the magistrate's office. He waited outside to say goodbye, but he didn't feel like talking right now.

Chen nods to Kaiden and goes with the Magistrate. His next few days would be spent in a cell alone, though the Crane would feed him and treat him decently enough for a prisoner.
