Choosing Water. Strength 2.

Bayushi Jiro was a courtier, and while he had done reasonably well as a student in the one demonstration he was required to make of his abilities, he rather thought this was going to be a problem test for him. It was a pity they weren't being adjudicated on the strength of their abilities in defense, but...ah, well. Such is life.

Taking up a bokken, he performed a rather traditional kata of the Bayushi school, well-used perhaps four hundred years ago. His movements were not designed to draw attention. Quite frankly, it was a miracle he knew how to handle a sword of this weight and length. But it was enough to pass.

He then saluted his opponent with a formal bow, acknowledging the Kitsu as an equal before he took action.

Jiro allowed the Kitsu to make the first move, then sprung into action, his bokken easily sliding under the thrust and lifting the Lion's sword high, he sank to one knee and struck the Kitsu firmly in the thigh.

Jiro spun out of his exposed position and went for another strike, but got a rap on the knuckles for his trouble.

Perhaps seeking to end the charade, Jiro gave the Kitsu a small opening. There was little chance to be surprised when he took it.

Jiro moved fluidly into a bow to Tsubasa after the ritual third hit and smiled. "Well done, Kitsu-san."
