Zashi eyes his opponent warily. It seemed that he was destined to go up against the Unicorn today. He didn't know much about his opponent, owing to the fact that he hadn't been one to join the Hisoko Dojo project and it never made to do well to assume anything about an opponent.

"Alright kiddo." Zashi slaps his face a few times to get ready. "You have a plan. Come in and play your game. Don't let anyone else dictate how to play it." He sighs. "Of course, it would have to be an obstacle course."

That had not been a fun day at the dojo, coming in dead last in his group. Yes, he had been practicing, but this looked to a tough one.

Zashi readies himself at the starting gate, getting into a runners stance as the judge announces the start. Zashi is supremely focused on the task at hand, trying to get the best time possible on the sprint. Not that it was much considering many of the others, and his smaller size, but Zashi surprises himself with the initial push

Moto Batbayar looks to Zashi as they line up and bows.

At the word to go, she takes off incredibly fast, outpacing Zashi by quite a bit. The first obstacle poses her no challenge and she is able to cross it without pause.

Zashi sees his opponent go ahead, but mentally slaps himself at the urge to go crazy.

Of course they are going to beat you in a dead sprint you idiot. Adapt and overcome. Keep it in the margins.

Zashi is continually slower that the Moto's surge off the block but keeps a steady pace. This time, at the more difficult version of the obstacle than the first Zashi flies through it with a nimbleness that belies the heavy amount of practice the Fox put in to not be a pushover shugenja.

Zashi's pace slows again on the run, short legs again doing very little to help.

Zashi actually surprises themselves, flying up the climbing tower with an ease

Zashi practically leaps down from the wall in a blind rush, trying to churn out every last inch of speed his short frame can manage, not even thinking to look at where the Moto is. Crossing the line Zashi collapses, falling over panting, having left it all out on the course.

Zashi gains on Batbayar quickly, though the Unicorn is able to maintain her distance somewhat from her quick work of the next obstacle. Then, Zashi is hot on her heels, but falls behind because of the last obstacle. The final sprint Zashi nearly catches her, but her excellent navigation of the obstacles ensured she kept just a few feet ahead of him at the finish.

"You are an amazing runner. I have it everything I had but, well..."

The Unicorn girl smiles and places her hands on her hips, leaning over to catch her breath.

"You are quite fast as well, Kitsune-san"

[Zashi]

Zashi chuckles. "I ran as fast as these little legs could take me. I hated doing this when we did a smaller version of this at the Hirosaka Dojo, and now with experience and due deliberation..." he pauses. "Yeah, I still hate it."

Zashi chuckles again. "But I think my effort might have beat a lesser opponent. You brought your skills and efforts just as hard as I did, you were just superior"
