Eichiro bows respectfully to his opponent and takes his mark. He ((forgets to call raises)) takes no chances with the first sprint and reaches the wooden bridge. Here he attempts to take the bridge in long bounding steps and nearly slips off, but seemingly as he is about to lose his footing a strong gust of wind catches his clothing and he regains his footing.

Ichiro bowed to his opponent and with that took off fueled by his loss to Kokyou He dug deep and pushed himself as hard as he could, coming into the first obstacle he just managed to out pace the lion. He easily raced across the narrow bridge using his strength to bound across gap in large bounding steps.

between each obstacle Ichiro put his all into the sprint his powerful legs pounding the ground as he thundered through the course. He jumped and easily swung his large body across the pit landing solidly and taking off again coming to the wall Ichiro coiled like a spring and launched himself into the air high enough to grab the top of the wall and haul himself over in one swift movement swingig his legs over and clearing the wall rolling his landing and hitting the final leg of the race hard.

Well, Eichiro knew as a mere courtier that he wouldn't win this competition. He was, perhaps, unprepared to be so thoroughly outclassed from the get-go. No matter, finishing with the training that he had was the important part.

That is, until he hit the rope swing. He tried to take it at a run, but the same wind that had helped him before took the rope out of reach and *plop* in he went into the mud, face first.

The wind kami are, of course, tricksters by nature.

He would have sighed deeply as he lay in that mud, except as a samurai, breathing earth and water is not good for living. It just wasn't done. So he stood up, wiped the mud from his eyes and made a show of gazing about to get his bearings. "Ah, yes." he said aloud, before scrambling up the near side of the pit and taking the swinging rope across with what appeared to be practised ease.

His opponent was now topping the wall that seemed so very far away, and the mud made an unpleasant squish in his sandals as he ran. As he reached the wall, he jumped a little to get a head start and made it half way before the mud on his hands and feet got the better of him. Eichiro slid, unceremoniously, back down to the bottom of the wall leaving a nice brown stain of mud.

Again he made a show of looking at the wall, moving to the side of the wall and looking at the angle, then he attacked it again, making his way up and over. Then it was a nice, easy jog to the finish.

It was a good thing that he had worn his brown pants today...

Ichiro waited for his opponent to finish the run and bowed to him "You were tenacious Ikoma-san, take pride in your performance." he said in a calm even voice having mostly caught his breath.

after the match Ichiro found a quiet place and centered himself re balancing his energy before the horsemanship challenges. His heart beat slowed and he found his inner peace for a few moments before heading to the next challenge.
