Jiro is able to pull ahead, but where he falls into the mud, Riku is able to traverse the obstacle with ease. The second obstacle also provides little challenge, but the third Riku is too worn out and must walk around it after multiple attempts, forcing her to walk around it.

Jiro's time on the obstacle course was an exercise in misery. He began well enough, outpacing the Kakita, but keeping to speed, he slipped at the footbridge, fell from the ropes mid-swing and wallowed in the mud like some worm. Dragging himself to his feet, he took off at a blinding clip, passing Kakita Riku, taking a running leap at the hand-holds on the wall, only to smack face-first into it. For a moment he stared up at the wall, the edges of his vision blurry as could be. In the distance he could feel the thrum of his opponent's feet passing him by and the echoes of voices chanting something...sounded like Ru-dy? Holding back tears of pain and embarrassment, he dragged himself to his feet and jogged at a respectable pace to the finish line.
