The New Winds

Kaidan had decided to dress up as a servant boy but keep himself in the down low. He followed what he knew what was the best point of entry. He had left little Ninya in his room because he had grown fond of the little cat. It had helped him in his time of need. He found himself in analyzing his intelligence of the previous days.

The guard at the servant entrance does not stop Kaidan, unable to see through his disguise.

He walked over to the gathering hall, probably would be an office or a private room. He walked silently toward the hall keeping his head down.

The estate's offices and private rooms are on the second floor, the first being a court of sorts. No one is paying any attention to Kaidan the Servant.

He went up the stairs and looked for the main office. He placed his ear on the door to check out if someone was there.

There was indeed a person there. A Crane samurai.

Kaidan knocked on the door. "My lord... pardon... the interruption."

Toshimoko looks at the servant for a minute and then waves his hand dismissively, going back to his readings.

"There has been an incident that you may want to come to your attention." He kept his head down. "Seems that someone may have posioned some of your 'honored' guests." He explained. "An individual of interest may be involved."

"I have already been made aware of the Ronin in the employ of the former governor of Hirosaka's actions. His execution happened this morning."

Toshimoko looks up from his work and eyes Kaidan somewhat.

"I don't mean the incident of last evening, sir. I mean poisonous frogs were let lose in the inn this evening." He kept his head low. He avoided eye contact being a servant and all that. "Some wanted to cook them and feed them to the guests."

Toshimoko rubs his temples and closes his eyes.

"Inform the magistrate. Thank you for letting me know, but I am not the one to handle this problem, that is why I appointed the Magistrate after all."

"Yes my lord but..." He lowered even more and trembling voice he followed his brief. "I... I... was... I was told to inform you... if... if... a... a... certain Mantis... was involved." He slightly looked up to see if Toshimoko has his tea.

"What?"

He looks at Kaidan again, both a sense of confusion and suspicion in his face.

"Who are you?"

"Just a simple servant of the Crane clan." He continued with his low look. "Have... have... Have I have been misinformed, my lord?"

"Who told you to inform me of such thing, and who did they say to keep track of?"

"My... my lord... I... I... I didn't catch the name... it is not my place to ask." he said timidly.

"Was the name of the certain someone they said to inform me about Hitoshi?"

"Hai..." He said still wondering if his lord had had his evening tea.

"Go back and find who it was who told you to report that name to me. I need to know who they are."
