The New Winds

Before heading out, Ginkarasu tried to focus himself. There was one more test today after all.

After that he went out into the mud. He needed a nice kimono to wear at a Crane event. His family always said you should dress so that others were impressed.

It takes some time, but after having found 3 clothing shops that had been bought out of anything remotely close to blue, 2 that turned out not to have kimono at all but training clothes for the dojo, a sixth that had closed for lunch, 4 more that only took new clients on recommendation from a sensei of the Kakita Artisan school itself...Ginkarasu had found a shop that had something blue, was open, and willing to sell to him.

Kaze's Antiques wasn't precisely the shop he'd planned on. But the proprietor boasted one of the very few actual kimonos that already had a Yasuki mon on it and had enough time to size it better to his frame. Ginkarasu couldn't believe his luck! A genuine 5th century Yasuki kimono that had little bluebells and storm clouds circling the sleeves! It was so fancy, it was like it was out of a story book!

Of course, he'd need to wait to wear it until he got to the Kakita Estate. No way he was getting it muddy. It cost as much as a finger of jade!

Wyn is also out shopping, though not for clothes, he wanders around the Unicorn style shops looking for a device he once heard of.

At a strange looking stall with a lot of...unpleasant, to Rokugani standards... meats for sale, Moto Batbayar is sitting and happily eating her fill of something red and bloody.

He pauses stopping near the stall, "Um...Moto-san?"

"Oh, hello Meya-sama!"

Batbayar turns around on her stool to smile a large grin at the boy, her accent coming across strong when she says his name.

"Do you want to have a bite with me? It's very good!"

"I just ate, but thank you! I am...not familiar with this cuisine...."

Ginkarasu slowed as he walked across the street. Was that Miya-sama and one of the Unicorn?

He stopped to check the map. Yeah! And they were at one of the Unicorn Key-bob places!

Good ol'map. Good ol'Miya who knew where everything was.

Batbayar waves to Ginkarasu across the street and says to Wyn.

"It's so good! You have to try!"

"I don't know what is it? Is this like when the dragon tried to convince me to eat Mountain Tuna?" He slowly approaches and looks over the food.

"It's deer! Venison! It's delicious."

She pushes her plate over, revealing a few skewers of meat so Wyn can take one.

"Venison, like Deer? I did not think they were on the list of animals we were supposed to eat? " He frowns and sits opposite of her and examines the skewers.

“Bah, all meat is meat. No one is more pure or more unclean that the other. As long as you give respect, give thanks, and cook it well, there is no harm done eating it”

"Thats not what the monks teach in the capital, or at least I don't think so...is this another Unicorn thing?"

“Maybe. But come, it’s getting cold! Do you want any or not?”

She smiles and nudges the plate a little closer as if to say “come on!”

He sighs and sits down, "I will give it a try, after all Miya are supposed to be explorer's no?" He sits opposite of her and picks up the skewer.

The venison is tender and cooked well, having little of its gamey flavor but full in richness reflecting the deers diet.

Ginkarasu decides he's not too hungry, wandering down the street around the bigger mudpits.

"It's good, this is Deer? Like the ones we are hunting later today?"

"Yes. It's a shame the samurai outside of the Unicorn tend not to eat it."
