What Books Should We Use For Part 2 And Onward

Figured I would open up this question early so we can get a feel what the community wants (and show how big story changes will happen in the future, through polls like this!)
Keep in mind that if we add more books, it applies to everything except schools, paths, advanced schools, clans, and families as those will all be updated as FFG releases them in the 5th edition materials.
So essentially, it gives more of the following:
Advantages
Disadvantages
Kata
Kiho
Maho
Shadowlands Powers
Spells
Tattoos

There's a lot of unbalanced stuff in the elemental books, so including them would mean a lot of work trying to decide what is too unbalanced for the game

without the expansion books though, there is a real lack of Kata that can be used by some schools.
also, are there plans to make, for lack of a better term, Courtier kata's ?

I have some ideas, there are a lot of things I'd like to bring over from 5th edition, but I don't want to introduce too many new mechanics all at once.

Kata can only be taken by schools with the Bushi tag I thought

Correct, it would require me making a whole new thing.
Here is an example of them from 5th edition:
Shūji are social techniques, leveraging that most powerful of human tools: communication. Shūji can be used in intrigues, duels, skirmishes, and other types of conflicts as common sense and the GM’s discretion dictate.
Artisan’s Appraisal
Rank 2
The courtier looks at an object but sees its maker. Each thumbprint tells a story about the hand that crafted the piece; every subtle choice reveals something about the desires that linger in the artist’s mind.
Activation: When assessing an object or performance with an Artisan skill (Air), Performance (Air), or Games (Air) check, you may spend opportunity in the following ways:
Air opportunity: Choose a ring; learn the value of that ring for the creator or performer and all advantages and disadvantages attached to that ring that are not of the curse type.
Air opportunity: If the creator or performer is an NPC, learn their demeanor.

yes, i couldn't remember what they were called, but Shuji were exactly what i was thinking. Don't need to be a ton of them, but it would be cool for Courtiers have things to invest in beyond skills like the Bushi and Monks / Shugenja do.

You can always bring over specific pieces from other books without putting the entire book into the mix. With the mentioned imbalance, and the level of changes and houserules here to create the 4th/5th hybrid feel, it seems more likely to break things.

This is my big fear with a lot of these additions and house rules. You add too much at once something is bound to break things. The elemental books are known to be problematic. We should go through book by book and decide what is ok and what is not. It will be a lot of work but it will help. I am personally willing to help type up and compile what mechanics each book adds if it makes it any easier to see.
I.e. this is the entirety of what these would add:
here
Edit: as I am putting this together I am seeing some patterns that maybe could be used to put together new polls and see what is good. For instance: across many books there are a lot of small disadvantages and advantages based on your character or family's origin province or city. That could voted on together.

This poll closes in roughly 16 hours. As of now, we WILL be using additional books, but there was not enough votes for it to be all books, so the GM will decide what is used.

Poll closed. The GM will decide what will be used from the different books.
