The students are all brought out to the training grounds where three sensei wait for them. The first, Kitsuki Tai Yu gives a lecture on listening to testimony. The second, Hituma Kagehori, has the students practice tracking, taking them outside of the dojo itself and into the town. The final sensei, Utaku Oichi, meets the students at the stables and teaches them how to calm, mount, and ride a horse before leading them back into the dojo complex.
Sensei: Hiruma Kagehiro, Kitsuki Tai Yu, Utaku Oichi
-The rules for this event are as follows: You will need to the following checks, all at TN6.

The lesson was informative, if for no other reason than it was a final practical foundation on the previous studies he'd had of Saibankan's parables. Admittedly, the further they were getting into the subject of gathering testimonies and following leads, the more that Saburo was realizing his military focus in his studies did result in a certain... limitation. He could compensate, in large part because of his recent studies and decent memory but he was grateful that the questions and tasks did not end up getting too deep before the end. He was feeling a little exhausted by the end of the session.
Oh... and saddle sore.
So saddle sore.
All the saddle sore.
He never wanted to look at one of those mangey, flea-bitten beasts again in his life.
Why did they call the way of samurai the way of the horse and bow?
Damn them all, well he was a shugenja, not bushi, so there. At least he didn't fall of the blasted thing.

Mai listen to the testimony and knew who the more truthful speaker was. The hunting bit was pretty easy. She was always good at hide-and-seek. Finally, she came to the horse. She was nervous, but, it would be necessary. Her own personal goals would require her to ride these creatures. And she proved surprisingly adapt.

The magistrate training was not what she had expected, but she was more than prepared for due to various lessons and experiences she had already had at the dojo. Her testimony training alongside Jiro made determining the truth of two confessions easier to pinpoint. Her attempts at finding frogs and figuring out who was always sneaking out at all hours of the night (when she was awake enough to notice them) made hunting down the 'criminal' easier. It was also really fun to be out in the city for the first time since they arrived a little over a week ago! And Ichiro's lesson on how to handle a horse made the lesson by Utaku-Sensei feel more like a refresher course.
She was very proud of herself when the lesson was over. These were all skills she had never thought of learning or pursuing before, and yet... she had done very well!

She'd always been a good listener, and it seemed the Iuchi's training was staring to pay off for her riding skill, but hunting someone down based on attentive testimony skills was still quite foreign to her.

by Bayushi Jiro
Bayushi Jiro's training under Kitsuki Tai Yu showed him to perform well enough for a child. But Bayushi Jiro was not interested in performing like a child, even a naturally capable one like him. Thus, he was only truly pleased with his ability to track, and even that he felt deserved little mention. He left the fields with face carefully composed into the neutrality that was a courtier's only real friend.

Ichiro was focused on this class, being a magistrate was something he could see himself doing so he went through the lessons, he was distracted and still managed to spot the differences and holes in the testimonies given, he showed competent knowledge in tracking and obviously did well on hunting.
It was not his most stand out performance but he did well enough.

by Yasuki Ginkarasu
Ginkarasu was super excited to do his best during this test. Being a yojimbo for a magistrate, or being a magistrate and protecting others, was about as high of a calling as he could hope. Not that protecting merchants wasn't good, valuable work. But he could see the kabuki play about the magistrate strolling into town, marked by death and sure to get results in his minds eye, and really, he could be super cool, maybe, yeah?
The horse got thwacked by a tree branch suddenly and the Yasuki was off at a gallop, holding on for dear life but still somehow managing to ride the horse back once it tired out. He wasn't certain that his teeth were ever going to stop vibrating though.

Ichiro could not wait to get on a horse again - even one of the lesser horses the dojo had to offer - it had been days since he was on horseback and he needed to feel that rush again. Sadly this eagerness distracted him during the early parts of the training and he found himself floundering when it came to testimony.
Hunting, and the time to ride, however went as well as he had hoped.

Wyn enter the court, cowing to the three sensei and moving to position to begin his lessons.
The first question of the two testimonies Wyn quickly deciphers the differences and inconstancies in the stories.
During the Second portion he pieces together the testimony and quickly uses his skills to identify just where the criminal might be hiding.
He is very hesitant for the third section, working up his courage he approaches the horse and discovers that he is a natural rider, despite lack of training, doing well enough to actually impress the Battle Maiden Sensei.

by Kaito Haruki
This sort of training was similar to what Haruki did to help his sensei back home. Children were all of equal status back home, and figuring out who was being honest was important then, and even more so now. Tracking down a criminal in a crowd was similar to figuring out who stole from the mochi jar. Horse riding was also taught in the distant dojo he went to; children had a hard enough time there without having to worry about how to travel a mountain alone. So every student was taught at least the basics.

The training that Dao had undertaken the previous day with Kitsuki-sama had set him in good stead for the training she offered, and he surprised himself with how he managed to conduct himself on Hiruma-sensei's hunt.
He surprised everyone with how well he performed in front of Utaku Oichi however. He managed to mount and control his steed smoothly and Oichi took great notice of Dao's skill, especially with the closeness forming between the Unicorn and the Dragon.

by Kakita Kazuko
Kazuko effortlessly spots out the inconsistency in the first testimony, though she did find it a bit tedious to have to listen to both when she already knew who the liar was. Her restlessness was quelled when they went into town, especially since she could walk and talk with Kenji and even hold his hand when the senseis weren't looking. When they arrive at the stables, Kazuko shows an aversion to the stable smell, trying to keep as much of a distance she respectfully can. Despite being sore from riding the horse and being unused to the bumpiness, she found it pleasantly helped with dealing with the stench, focusing on not falling off rather than the senses around her. Other than that though Kazuko found the training to be fairly easily and enjoyable.

Sanzo's mind was focused upon the duties of a magistrate for a few days now, so it's no surprise that he performed quite admirably in this test. He even challenged himself a bit, seeking a greater challenge to resemble the real deal. Perhaps he really was cut out for this kind of thing?

Although he had difficulty listening to two people at once, he could spot the liar, just barely. Hunting for clues through Hirosaka, his attention was focused on Kazuko and if she hadn't given him a subtle hint, he would have failed.
But when it came to the horses, Kenji was subtly nervous. He had never ridden before. Not because he was scared, but because it had never happened before. Hesitantly he climbed on the horse and listened to the instructions of Utaku-Sensei. Although he had never really ridden before, it seemed that he had a hidden talent for it. This of course did not prevent him from getting sore muscles from riding. With graceful bow legs he joined the others after the lesson and waited for everyone to finish.

Prash had never seriously considered being a magistrate before, but coming to this session, he clearly knew it was a possibility. And, judging from his performance, one in which he would do quite well, too.
He could understand and pick apart inconsistencies in two testimonies surprisingly easily even for himself, if not outstandingly well.
Using testimony to find a criminal was even easier, despite being something he has never done before.
And riding... Well, riding was second nature to a Unicorn, so it was no surprise he did well there.
Once more, not a performance deserving of a sensei's particular attention, but a very good performance nonetheless.

Sakura would never be magistrate material. She was too kind, too trusting, too sweet. Nobody would take her seriously, and she'd more than likely let the person go feeling sorry for them.
However in the training she performed surprisingly well! She was able to tell who was telling the truth, play hunt the culprit with relative ease and even proved herself riding a horse!
Even the sensei was impressed that the girl got through with top marks. Maybe not good enough to consider training to be a future magistrate, but she clearly could at least do the duty if called upon as a last resort when every other magistrate in the world had died.

by Kokyou
Kokyou listens well to the testimonies Kitsuki-sensei provided. He focuses on her facial expressions as she recite them, and manages to get glimpses of truthful reports from those merely courteous. the sensei nods back to him, curious of what more the boy would be capable of achieving other than growing a big ego.
Outside the dojo, Kokyou is at his best, and tracking becomes more of a fun game than areal training. Easy to learn and to succeed when one enjoys what they're doing.
As they get near the stables, Kokyou sees Utaku Oichi-sensei from afar and starts to puff some extra air into his lungs. Besides all his cockiness, the boy simply cannot exchange a word back to her. There is only a permanent oafish smile and a fixed gaze at her when she rides around to show the students.
Cleaning a short dribble from the bouncy explanation, Kokyou reaches out for a pony to ride. Sadly, he thought, he really didn't need extra help. Even though his eyes were fixed at his teacher's... ahm... abilities, Kokyou understood the commands necessary to be given to the horse. They were loud enough.

This,
this is what Sasaiko has wanted. She easily parses the testimony given her, and she is able to find her quarry with no problem. She is also able to ride her quarry down with ease--surprising, perhaps, but somehow not enough to attract any sensei's eye.
She bows, pleased with herself, and moves off to do her part to right the dojo.
