According to the rules of kiho, you can only learn kiho whose mastery level is equal to or less than the sum of your ring+school level. This would make it to where I am almost certain that no one could take any kiho over mastery 3, and even then would require a great deal of investment to get. The book works under the assumption that you start with 2 in every trait before bonuses, please keep that in mind when it comes to houseruling.

Yup, for part 1, people likely are not going to be able to get any Kiho, which is fine. Once part 2 (Topaz Championship) begins, you will be equal to if not better than a normal character created from the book with 40xp. Part 1 is giving you a guaranteed +1 in all of your rings, with event rewards further giving you +1 to all traits if you do well in the events.

Dojo points are the overarching mechanic for New Winds part 1. You will earn them for all the events you partake of and pass rolls in. When the game officially starts, I will reveal what the points do.

How do you use Orokos to roll a social check if you have the Gaijin Name disadvantage? Is there a way to tell the dice program that you can only explode once?

Instead of it being 3d10o10k2 for example (3k2) it would be 3d10e10k2

For the purposes of advantages like luck, what is a session for a play by post environment?

A session consists of 3 in game days, so the sessions are:
Session 1: Day 1-3
Session 2: Day 4-6
Session 3: Day 7-9
Session 4: Day 10
And a reminder that every in game day is 3 real life days. There are 12 timeslots per game day. You can have one topic of your own OR participate in one topic of another persons every timeslot.

For the glory and status houserule, would we round up to 1 unkept die added if we are below rank 1?

No, we round down on everything. Full ranks only. So for Status it only applies to Imperial characters at creation, and for glory, it will require players to do some acts that gain them glory! Gotta work for it!
In later games, it will be active from the get go unless you start below 1 on either for some reason.

For the exceptional rolls rule, can the raises gained from that push you over the normal maximum raises?

Yep, they act as free raises. So you can only gain them if you are skilled in the roll you are making, and you are not limited by Void. If you were given 10 free raises, you could still make Called raises equal to your Void Ring (Or skill, if you have the Great Potential advantage)

The inheritance advantage, as written, gives no bonus to attack rolls or damage rolls. Is the bushi inheritance in the dojo points section an exception?

It is not, it will grant a +1k1 to using the katana for performances, use outside of attack, or for the assessment and focus portion of a duel.

Looking at the timeline and the wiki for the kaito family, it appears the kaito family is still a vassal family for another year.

Correct! They are. But, that does not change their playability.

But it does change naming conventions and which mon I'm sporting. Sorry for not noticing this before I made my character.

Not at all. I guess technically people outside the Phoenix call you Isawa, but inside the Phoenix they call you Kaito. Because they are becoming an actual family soon, it's not a huge deal. That part of the timeline isn't changing

Cool, I'll leave a note in my banner and that'll be it. Is the family status change happening in part 2 or later?
