The New Winds

Ichiro arrived at the archery range with practice weapon already gathered and he had begun firing arrows at the target. his ability was rising rapidly once he forced himself to figure out the basics on his own. The Moto was not a smart boy nor a fast learner but he was diligent and stubborn.

But he knew he didn't have all the answers and that Kakita-sensei could show him how to elevate his shooting to another level even if they weren't likely as versed in the type of archery he would be doing.

"I have heard that the Unicorn are excellent archers, Moto-san. I am surprised you called on me."

Ichiro turned and bowed to the sensei "We are Kakita-sensei but it is not part of the teachings of the Moto. We are of course encouraged to learn it but it is not taught as part of our core skills. And what you practice is a little different but I figure the better I am at this the farther ahead ill be when I practice it from horseback."

"I see. Well then, let us begin shall we. Show me your draw and release so I can make corrections."

Ichiro picked up the bow and practice arrows and took his time drew and released the arrow it was practiced but far from perfect.

"Good. May I touch you? It may make instruction easier"

Ichiro nodded "Hai sensei." The Unicorn had far less problem with physical contact than the other clans.

The Kakita walks up to Ichiro, quite close to him and begins manipulating his form. kicking his feet to spread them a little. Lifting up his wrist to elevate the bow. Pulling back on his shoulders.

Ichiro has the discipline of one who spent his whole life doing this kind of training. He didn't resist or tense up at the sensei's touch but allowed himself to be manipulated into position.

"Good. Just like that. Now, hold this position, and when your arms begin to burn, you are only half way finished. This will instill the proper form."

"Hai Kakita-sensei." came his gruff reply and he did as requested holding his arm back even as his back started to burn and his arm started to shake with the strain.

Once the urning gets so intense to cause muscle shakes, the Kakita calls out:

"Release!"

as soon as he heard the words his body responded with action loosing the arrow, the motion was practiced but the shaking of his arms didn't help his accuracy.

"We will do this until you can hold til muscle failure and still hit the center."

The Moto simply nodded and re nocked an arrow pulling back and holding.

When Ichiro is about to release the second time, the sensei suddenly lets out a loud shout and claps their hands together

he only jerked a little after all he was used to loud distracting noises between horses being trained the sounds of a city around him but a small jerk made a large difference in archery and he grimaced but loaded the next arrow regardless.

The instruction continues for some time. Occasionally, Ichiro is left to his own devices, other times the sensei attempts some form of distraction.
