Folding Paper

Her plate and bowl were set to the side, finished now and waiting to be cleared. In front of her were two stacks of paper: one flat and ready to be used, the other filled with folds but were discarded for not being perfect enough. And between the two, a small frog in a bamboo basket woven just loose enough for the frog to be seen but not get out.
Every so often, Nobuko would lift her eyes from the piece of paper she was folding to study the frog carefully.
