Last Minute Cram Session

Over Lunch the littlest Imperial has again found an out of the way spot to study, in this case a last minute cram session for the upcoming Lore class, he has scrolls of every type of lore scattered around him, and is copying them over, trying to learn the knowledge by rote repetition, though his own hand writing is causing some trouble in the process, and he seems to be rewriting many of the same passages over and over again to get the legible.

"Miya-san," Nobuko greeted politely with a bow, holding it until she got a response, "May I join you?"

Kazuko enters the library not to cram like Wyn is, but rather to write a letter to her father and practice her calligraphy while she does so. Most books couldn't hold her focus for long anyway, much preferring physical activities or practical arts to reading. She places her paper and ink brush kit at the table next to Wyn, seeing as how his table is currently overflowing with scrolls, and carefully returns a couple of scrolls that have rolled off the table before sitting down at her own and starting her letter. Well, thinking about how to start it. Wyn's frenetic copying the only noise in the otherwise tranquil library, she tries to take a peek at the text he's currently on before realizing that his handwriting is too messy for her to read from this distance. She begins writing her letter as Nobuko enters.

Wyn nods toward the Kakita when she enters, greeting her with a slight smile but no words as he continues his work. As the Otomo approaches he looks up and smiles again, this time a little larger upon being addressed. The young man moves some of the scrolls out of the way to make room. "Of course Otomo-sama"

Nobuko gives a polite nod to Kazuko, but as Wyn was the Imperial, it was Wyn she deferred to on accepting her presence.

She sat down, folding her hands into her lap as she glanced at the scrolls and then over at Kazuko's calligraphy practice, "Are you studying the older style of kanji? Some of these characters look rather complicated."

For the moment, since they were together, she assumed they were studying the same thing, from different angles.

"Not exactly, these are all...lore scrolls for some of the subjects we are studying later, I figured by copying them I might help my Calligraphy and learn what is in them, but" He looks defeated, "Some of them are in old dialects I don't know so no matter how much I copy, I am not learning anything about Gaki and snowmaidens and whatever those things are." He points to a half lion half man monster depicted on one of the scrolls.

Nobuko leaned over to look at the calligraphy and did her best to try and remember what that stylistic choice was and what it was supposed to convey, "Tsuno, I believe is the word. A tie to the spirits of some sort. I am not sure about the rest... I would need to study it longer."

"It looks like the Kitsu family mon, but its not, its modified a lot" He frowns and points to the furred face with large tusks. "Do you think that is supposed to be a war mask, or maybe some sort of animal spirit from Chikasudo?" He shakes his head and sighs "It's all so complicated how do people keep it straight?"

Kazuko finishes her letter to her father, having listed details about her various accomplishments, friends, and the staff, albeit exaggerated slightly to make her seem more impressive. She's confident that her father will at least read the letter, though she's less optimistic about a reply. As she gets started on her second letter, she decides halfway through that it's not good enough, worried that her letter is not good enough or of offending Agasha-sama somehow. Wait, she can just ask the imperial next to her about this, she surely knows what to do.

"Say, Otomo-san, you seem pretty knowledgeable about the arts and courtly matters. How would you write a letter of proposal to someone extremely important?"

Wyn, though not addressed looks up, "What exactly are you proposing, that could be important in how you write the letter."

"I, along with some others, are thinking of asking Agasha-sama for permission to host a game tournament here to see who's the student game master of Hirosaka. It's going to be a fun event if it gets approved, but I don't want to mess the letter up."

Nobuko brightened at the event suggestion, "Well, to start, you should thank Agasha-sama for the generosity shown in hosting us in the first place, and then outline that you and several fellow students would like to host an event of your own for the students during a free hour on one of our days here as a way to..."

She paused, "Oh, I'm assuming you mean for this to be a fun way to relax before our final day here and not something to be judged by the Sensei. If I am wrong, then we should absolutely address it differently."

Wyn nods in agreement with the Otomo, "Yes, and were you thinking athletic games, court games, or table games? There might be different tacts to take depending on the type of games you were considering"

"The tournament should be competitive in nature, although having fun is also important. I will start by thanking her though, thank you for the idea."

"Kenji and I were thinking table games like Go as that is the game that brought us together. By the way, we plan on meeting at the hour of the Rooster to coordinate the details of such an event today and you two are welcome to join us if you wish to partake."
