[D5, EM] A new Day

[Kakita Kenji]

Kenji was in Kazuko's room. He leaned against one of the walls and had a bokken in his arm. He spent half the night making sure that none of the ronin dared to come near to her.

After yesterday's events, he had brought her here and had not let her out of his sight since then, too worried about her. Maybe he must have fallen asleep, a slight snoring was heard from him.

Kazuko wakes up early, blearily looking around the room for a second as she tries to recall the events of last night. Oh, right. She was... unwillingly put to sleep early. Kenji must have carried her here. Speaking of Kenji, is that his snoring outside? She carefully creaks the door open and peeks outside only to tiptoe back into her room and grab a blanket which she then gingerly wraps around him, settling down near him as she waits for him to wake up. This is the least she could do for him after.... Ah, being the first to go down from a filthy ronin is so embarrassing! In one hit too!! She puts her face on her knees, cringing as she tries to forget her humiliation.

Kenji woke up badly, groggy he turned his head to the side where he could make out noises. He blinked a little and saw Kazuko.

He saw Kazuko.

It took his brain a while to process the information. In his mind's eye the scene at the sake house was playing out,the onrushing ronin, the flash of a blade, the sound of steel on flesh and the cry of pain that followed. Tears formed in his eyes, he was so happy that she was awake again.
"Kazuko,......" he whispered softly and put his arm and blanket around her. "i,.... i,... i" he stammered, unsure what to say. His emotions were all over the place, his hands were shaking,..
