"Greetings Kazuoku-san," Kenji said with a slight bow. "It wasn't quite enough today with Kakita-Sensei," he said with a warm smile, "but I'm glad that you are fine anyway.

Kenji cleared the GO board. "Watch out Kazuko-san, Aiichiro-san is good"

[Kakita Kazuko]

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Aiichiro-san. Kenji-san has talked about me? Has he mentioned that I go by the title of 'Go Master of Hirosaka?'"

Contrasting Aiichiro's serene and undisturbed attitude, she self-assuredly assumes a smirk.

"I would love to play against you. Do not worry if this is your first time losing, it is only natural for one to lose against a Go master like me. However, if you still wish to wager coin, I would be happy to match you."

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"I play for the game, not for gaining anything. Would not think a Crane would suggest so, though. The person who waged with me was a Mantis. Both of them, actually, but one put a bet for a piece of parchment. I wouldn't care on simply playing, but they insisted on betting. We played on the hour of the Ox." He said, placing the first piece, and the game would unfollow...
Day 2 Rooster Time for Correspondence (closed) - Go against Kazuko: 2d10 17

[Kakita Kazuko]

"A Mantis would wager coin, thinking it makes the game more fun, but I think it detracts from the soul of the game, don't you think?"

The game was fairly even, with Kazuko and Aiichiro trading control over the board for most of it, but when it came to the counting of the pieces, it turns out that Aiichiro came out ahead by not even 10 pieces.

"Ahh, that was so close. Well played. How about another?"

[Kakita Kenji]

"I'm ashamed, against you my moves look like a child's attempt to lift a sword," Kenji said, perhaps a bit too envious.

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

"I would love to, but those take time. And I still have to write a letter... Oh, we need to ask Miya-domo first."

[Kakita Kenji]

"Maybe Kazuko is in possesion of Ink and a Brush, Aiichiro-San" Kenji said. "That would be pretty convenient"

[Kakita Kazuko]

"Yes, I have a ink and a brush. You may borrow it if you need, but please return it to me when you are finished with it."

Kazuko takes out her ink brush kit and hands it over to Aichiiro.

"Consider it your prize for winning, if barely," she says lightheartedly.

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He takes it. "Thank you, Kazuko-san. Let's go to the barracks? I need to pick my parchment. I was thinking at writing the letter at the study rooms of the library, unless they are being used for actually studying."

[Kakita Kazuko]

"You can go on ahead, I'm going to help Kenji-san put away his Go set. We will meet you there soon though."

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

Ginkarasu looked at the Go board.

"Okay, so. One of you surrounded the other's pieces?" He's a little puzzled.

[Kakita Kenji]

Seeing that the young Yasuki showed interest in the game, Kenji said: "Not necessarily, Yasuki-san, it is much more about taking as much space as possible for yourself. You can surround your opponent to take stones from him, but mainly the one who has the biggest area left at the end, wins.

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

"Oh! What's to stop both players from just claiming half the board?"

[Kakita Kazuko]

"We can remove an opponent's pieces by surrounding them but the goal of the game is to try and have your pieces occupy as much space as possible on the board. If we place pieces that are too isolated they will easily be swallowed up by the opponent when they get a stronger foothold on the board."

Kazuko is mildly surprised that Yasuki-san can be so lively during training yet sit still so patiently while watching them play Go.

"Are you interested in learning? I'd be glad to teach you if you are."

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

"I always wanted to learn Sadane, to be clever like my family, but this does seem like a different type of clever."

[Kakita Kazuko]

"Hmm, Sadane requires a sharp tongue but Go requires a sharp mind. I prefer Go, although both have their uses."

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

Aiichiro returns with more pieces of parchment than needed for a single card. "Shall we go? Go as in going, not as in Go."

[Kakita Kenji]

Kenji got up. "I can leave the go set for a while and write the letter with Aiichiro-san while you play a few rounds with Yasuki-san, if you two agree, of course?"

[Kakita Kazuko]

"I would not mind a game or two, if he would like to play. Perhaps he will learn enough to play with us tomorrow?"

[Yasuki Ginkarasu]

"Sure! Though I bet I'm no good at it, thank you for teaching me!" He smiles. "How do you decide who gets what stones?"
