[Kuni Yotsuo]

The Kuni monk sat patiently before a go board, waiting quietly for an opponent. This was really the only game he actually knew anything about really. He had patience and the game suited that, but when it came time to play he would do his best to draw on the wisdom provided by the judge.

Ring: Fire

[Akodo Kichiro]

Taking his time scouting out the playing field, Kichiro eventually finds before a most pleasant looking Kuni. At least by the standards of his makeup and age. "Greetings Kuni-sama." Kichiro bows formally before taking his seat. "It would be an honor to face you to today's event. By my ancestor's wisdom they say-" Kichiro continues on until Ikoma Ikehata steps back and wacks him on the knuckles for wasting time. The judge not afraid to be harsh on his own clan. The young lion purses his lips and blocks out the pain. "-They say competition can be a true form of conversation. Tested and strained a man's character is put forth on display."

[Kuni Yotsuo]

"The words of our honored ancestors provide many important lessons," Yotsuo replies with a bow to his opponent. "I look forward to our conversation." He indicates the game pieces giving Kichiro his choice of going first or second.

[Akodo Kichiro]

Kichiro takes the cup of black pieces thus offering Yotsuo the handicap advantage of going first. "Shall we begin?"

(Mechanically due to TN sniping going first is the disadvantage. Tossing my roll up first as a courtesy)

Within the first few turns Kichiro chaotic constructs his web of territories. Establish a foundation to take the future advantage as the smaller battles bleed into one another.

"Indeed," he replies with a nod.

The constructs are complex but Yotsuo does not let that bother him. Instead, he makes some aggressive moves to take an early lead. He suspects his opponent knows the game better due to those complexities so he relies on a very persistent and straightforward strategy. He suspects that it will lead to easily read moves that result in an eventual loss, but he doesn't let that get him down.

Kichiro taps his index finger against his cheek. Deep contemplation on how he lost the early advantage and where to proceed. Accepting some losses, he increases the scope of the field and begins expanding along the edge of their conflicts. Hoping to slowly envelopment the surrounding pieces for capture.

The Crab monk watches the encroaching assault of the Lion bushi's moves. He is keeping pace with it as best he can before he spots a singular move to redirect his opponent's attention and return the pressure, flipping it in such a way that might set him back to cope with the aggressive counter-attack.

Last chance to take control of the field. Kichiro stops calculating the bigger picture and push forward the assault. Play by play piece by piece he attempts to outpace Yotsuo's expansion and begin capturing his pieces in mass.

The returned assault shows the superior skill of Kichiro for the judges. But while it was effective and helped him to regain ground against the Crab, the game still wasn't over. The pieces that Yotsuo had already taken still left him in a strong enough position to earn victory. This was certainly a setback though.

Fighting back from the brink, Kichiro presses on with his assault. A cold focus in the Akodo's eyes as he presses down the stones with a powerful determination to each move. He fights not Yotsuo but the clock now. Only so many moves left before the match called and the battle deemed unrecoverable.

Yotsuo's defenses start to collapse under his own tactic of full on assault. It wouldn't be long until the match was called. He suspected that the Akodo had this one now, but his early gains meant that this was till anyone's match. The board was a mess and a few strategic moves could make this anyone's game. It was now down to the wire.

Kichiro's brow begins to sweat. Maybe taking this little game too seriously? The final battlefield races to its conclusion as one final capture decides the match.

"No army led by an Akodo has ever known defeat..." Kichiro stakes his family name on the line coldly as he places the final few pieces.

On Kichiro's final assault, it is impossible to overcome the overwhelming assault, though Yotsuo gave it his strongest attempt. In the end, however, superior skill and drive led to the superior performance. Yotsuo bowed graciously to his opponent. "A fine match Akodo-san. I still have much to learn. Thank you."

Yotsuo was pleased with the results. For him, winning or losing this was not a question of honor, but it seemed to be for his opponent. So he was glad to have put up at least a good resistance for Kichiro to test himself against.
