"The Ruby Champion is in charge of training for the Imperial family, the Seppun, and the Emerald Magistrates. It would be interesting if they choose to continue training random students each year as well"

"That does seem like a lot of duties piled on. And then...like now, they need to step into the duties of the Emerald Champion should anything happen to them. I wonder why she chose to add to her work, or if it was decreed elsewhere?" Nesrin was rather far from the courts and places where powers communicated bout such things. "I suppose some variety of politics was involved."

"I think she wanted to make a difference, and felt that by teaching children she could"

[Utaku Nesrin]

She smiles at that. "I hope she's right. Someone said to me as they headed into town that they felt a destiny to help guide the heroes that were going to be needed in the days to come, and thought it likely they'd find some here. It's concerning that there are portents pointing to the kind of trouble that needs heroes, but...maybe the training initiative will make a difference. Maybe those trying to guide heroes will too."

"They say the only thing worse the drawing the attention of powerful people, is living in interesting times"

[Utaku Nesrin]

"Oof, and we may have done both of those, if you count that training as drawing the attention of the Ruby Champion, and if one believes predictions from the Togashi." Nesrin lifts her head, straightening a bit with a deep breath. "Well, we don't choose where we go when we're reborn, so we'll have to settle for choosing what we do when times get interesting."

"Well then as long as we act with honor and consideration, we will have to hope our ancestors smile on our actions."

[Utaku Nesrin]

Nesrin nods. "Interesting times, or dull ones, I suppose that is always true. Thank you, Miya-sama." Stifling a yawn, she rises. "And with that, I'm afraid I really should get some sleep if I hope to offer a decent challenge to someone tomorrow. I'm honored by your gift, and our competition today."
