(Day 3, EE) Popup Event: This tastes funny..

A new face is at the House of the Laughing Carp today. Instead of the normal peasant server the guests have known over the last three days, the evenings meals are being served by a ronin. He seems to be watching each of the students he serves food to with keen interest...

-When you join this thread, please roll a Raw Stamina Trait roll vs TN 25. Failure means that for the next 24 hours (Day 4, EE), or until treated, they suffer -1 to all of their Physical traits (Agility, Reflexes, Stamina, and Strength)

-Players may also make an Investigation / Perception roll at TN 20 to notice the Ronin's odd behavior.

-Players who participated in the New Winds Part 1: Treasure Hunt event may roll a Raw Intelligence Trait roll at TN 20 to recognize the Ronin as someone who was at the gambling den they visited.

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

A ronin served the meals. Odd, but everyone has to do something for a living, don't they? And he surely wanted to show off his cup to everyone he talked about it, giving priority to Yotsuo — and also the 5 koku to Ginkarasu. So this evening he was walking with a tanuki cup and an obscene amount of money on his person.
Thinking better about it... It's odd that they replaced a trustable servant with a ronin who would wage much higher to do something simple as serving food. He should ask about it!

[Ikoma Eichiro]

Ikoma Eichiro arrives and takes his usual seat. He had time to change his clothes and wash before making it, so he isn't as early as he would like to be. He orders some tea and simple snacks and awaits the rest of the party.

Ugh, that does taste terrible... needs more spice. Eichiro pulls out his little container of wasabi and eats a bit to cleanse his palate, washing it down with the tea. He pushes the snacks away, something must be wrong with them.

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He looks at the Ikoma at the front of the table. Ginkarasu said they were a little always too proud, so he would be aw- Did he just... The rumours. Wasabi should really be habit-forming. He stopped eating just to lick wasabi!
"Oh, hello." He gets up from his table with a bow, putting the cup and his bowl at the other side of the table before walking around it to sit at his side.

[Togashi Dao]

Dao was beside himself with the types of food the Crane had provided so far, especially the seafood. He noticed something weird with one of the servants dishing out the food, but the food was still too tempting to pass up.

Even though something about the food didn't seem to agree with him.

Noticing another patron unsatisfied with the food, Dao walks over to the pair of samurai. "Not as appealing as the other fare is it. Maybe the cook would have some explanation?"

[Matsu Qiang]

Ikoma Eichiro arrives and takes his usual seat. He had time to change his clothes and wash before making it, so he isn't as early as he would like to be. He orders some tea and simple snacks and awaits the rest of the party.

Matsu Qiang came in and joined Eichiro for the meal. The food was truly terrible tonight; Qiang supposed it could be worse, but with the stomachache it gave him, it was hard to imagine how. It seemed undignified to complain; but he couldn't help but notice the ronin who kept giving them strange looks.

"Did you notice the new person serving food?" he asked the others in a low tone. "The ronin? Is it me, or does he keep looking at us for some reason?"

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He felt an itch at the back of his neck with Qiang approaching, but maintained his on. He did nothing wrong. Chill. Still, he already put his food there, so there was no going back. He sat next to the Ikoma.
He also didn't quite hear what Qiang asked as he was a little too far away when he whispered. But apparently people were not happy with the food. "Did they gave you bad pieces? Mines is great." He asks, taking more. Anything fried was good enough to him.

'This day couldn't get worse, could it.' Eichiro thought as the Crab took a seat. He pulled out his fan and responded to Qiang in the same tone, "I don't think so..."

"Well there's no accounting for taste I suppose." Eichiro responds to Aiichiro, no sense of ill will in his voice. "I've never been a fan of salty foods really. But if you enjoy it, please avail yourself."

[Akodo Kichiro]

After an incredibility exhausting day of tests, of which were mostly successful, Kichiro was relieved when he got word that their next study was at supper. Even surrounded by his cousins, Kichiro's mood soured from the harsh judgement of the crane failing him in the culture examine. With eat bite of his bowl he was sure this anger was imbalance his elements and throwing off his inner balance. He sets his bowl aside and focuses inward... Ohh his stomach was speaking to him... It sounds like the roar of an oni oh kami why..

"I'm not feeling so good mina-sama..." Kichiro sways back in forth within his seat while clenching his stomach. The stomach only roaring louder in protest.

"Did you notice the new person serving food?" he asked the others in a low tone. "The ronin? Is it me, or does he keep looking at us for some reason?"

Kichiro nonchalantly glances over towards Qiang's focus attempting to assess the situation himself. "All the samurai of the empire and a dirty ronin is serving the food?!" Kichiro quietly growls.

"I asked for them to fry mines. You can do the same. Or take one piece from my bowl to see how it tastes." He replies with a nod, then looking to Kichiro. He didn't seem well. Maybe some sickness. He puts his bowl aside and walks over him. "What's happening?" He asked.

[Moto Ichiro]

Today had been an all around good day for the Moto performing well on two of the three trials he was in high spirits for sure. Which for the quiet Moto translated to a small smile on his face rather than his usually cool expression.

The food was alright nothing about it really seemed to bother him but the ronin serving it on the other hand........he seemed, suspicious.

Oh snap its Aiichiro!

Kichiro sits up straight and puffs out his chest. "Oh hi Kaiu-san nice to see you again! Don't worry about me I'm simply drained from today's events. Nothing a good old bowl of rice can't solve right?!" Kichiro speaks with a cheerful tone and straight On. His face flushed red and sweating. Every so often Kichiro's eyes swiftly glances back towards the ronin as if taking snap shots but trying to remain polite to the crab.

The sudden change in composture was somewhat funny. Kichiro was really something with pride. But he either only held it up when he was around, or dropped it with his fellow clansmen. He thought the later. "Oh, you would better take water then. Looks like you are... heated up. I have a fan with me. Do you want it for yourself?" He says, taking the thing (the normal fan, not any of the metal ones) from his obi.

[Akodo Kichiro]

Alert ALERT! Warnings flashing within Kichiro's mind. "No no your generosity is appreciated but I have a fan of my own if needed." Kichiro politely declines. He turns towards the others giving the most intensely authoritative glare he could muster should he even suspect anyone misinterpreting this as an exchange of fans. "Please take a sit Kaiu-san. This gathering is not exclusive. We are only discussing tomorrow's trials and how to better prepare ourselves. A small wince in a singular eyebrow is displayed as Kichiro suppresses the pain of another stomach gurgle. "I will take that water though." Kichiro nods his head humbly towards any at the table. His cup empty on the table beside a pitcher of water, it Rokugan's custom to be improper to pour for one's self among company.

[Ikoma Eichiro]

Eichiro pours, as the first one at the table he supposes that he is the host. "I have also known wasabi to help, but..." *gurgle* "it ehm, doesn't always work."

[Kaiu Aiichiro]

He guards his fan. "Alright then. Ikoma-san, could you pass back my bowl?" He stretches his arm over the table.

[Togashi Dao]

It seemed the curious behaviour of the ronin had not gone unnoticed by everyone, in fact most people sensed something off about his behaviour.

Dao glanced around the room, while there were a number of other patrons, it definitely seemed the wave man only really had eyes for the table of competitors.

His body tensed, part in paranoia, part in reaction to the off sashimi, as he prepared to leap into action...one way or another.

“You’re welcome to the rest of my food, if you want,” the Matsu offered with a grimace. “I’m not as hungry as I thought.” He pushed his own bowl away.
