You may ONLY conduct the following as a Complex Action:

Tackle! -- Athletics / Strength, TN 20, +5 to the TN for each roll you made in the first part of the chase in this event. Success deals damage equal to a rolled and kept value of your Strength. failure knocks you prone, putting you 40ft behind him.. You must be 0ft away to use this option.

Grab! -- Jiujutsu / Agility, TN 25. You muts be 5ft or less away to use this option. ((Additionally, please roll a Str check so the Theif can attempt to break free on their turn))

Catch Up -- Move double your water ring x10.

You may ONLY conduct the following as a Simple Action:
Stand from Prone

Block - If you are 5ft or more in FRONT of the street rat, you may block him, making his movement be only 20ft instead of 45

Move your water ring x10


Once the Street Rat has moved 200ft, he escapes

Akodo Kichiro and Kakita Kenji may only enter into the thread if the street rat has been successfully stopped (Either tackled or grabbed and did not break free), or if the street rat gets away

Kokyou boasts a laugh and snatches the running thief holding he by the neck and lifting up in the air like a sack ready to be stashed into the ship's container.

"Haaar! Ye can nah outrun a tsunami, whelp."

Try as he might, the young boy could not break free, Kokyou's grip was just too strong.

He struggles for a little longer before he sinks, realizing he is caught and nothing he can do will break him free.

He reaches in to his kimono and pulls out a fresh loaf of bread.

"For my sister and I"

He looks meek and ashamed

Kaidan stood up and shook off some of the dirt off. "Bread?... Should we turn him in? He seemed to just be hungry." Kaidan looked at Kokyou. The Mantis seemed more attuned to the peasantry... Scorpion have also a thing about peasants but they aren't in Scorpion lands.

[Kokyou]

Kokyou takes a look at Kaidan, explaning, "tis stealin' when one gets caught, 'n he did. Now, I don't reckon the magistrate shall lose precious time dealin' wit' this minor matter."

Looking back to the thief he says, "If ye're starvin', ye can come by the Laughin' Carp Inn 'n I'll make sure ye 'n yer sister can 'ave a decent meal thar on me tap. About this loaf o' hardtack ye took. I wonder wha' the other samurai that 'ave wasted thar sweat t' catch ye 'ave t' say."

The boy looks in awe at Kokyou, astounded any samurai would show him such kindness.

"O...Of course samurai-sama....thank you!"

Stunned he almost stumbles again as he is free to continue running

[Akodo Kichiro]

Shortly after the thief's capture Kichiro would arrive. With a single bead of sweat racing down his brow, he takes a moment to collect himself and straighten his collar. Piercing eyes dancing between those in attendance as he judges the situation and gathers his own thoughts.

"We're turning him in to the law." Kichiro speaks with an authoritative tone. "He has betrayed the rules of our society and brought shame to this festival. No matter his reasoning, he choose to cross the line and must stand by his actions to the magistrate." His intensity lightens and tone becomes melancholic. "If we wish to resolve this separate issue it is within our power to show charity or petition local authority. This man however has already chosen his fate."

[Kokyou]

Kokyou takes a step in front of the Lion and the thief. "Ack! Worry not, Lion-san. I agreed wit' 'im a deal. I'll cover fer the hardtack expenses."

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Kaidan chuckled. "Kokyou san... You forgot something important, his name." Kaidan looked at the Lion. "Perhaps, but who are we as visitors of the Crane lands... Kakita san should be the one to have a say on what we do with their peasants." Then a smirked under his mask. "Who knows giving a little compassion to a hungry soul might help us in a future adventure."

Confused the thief falls backwards into.a seated position, cowering down.

"I am sorry samurai-samas!"

By now, quite a crowd had begun gathering to see the scene unfolding.

[Akodo Kichiro]

A deep nod to the Bayushi in agreement. "The Kakita shouldn't be far behind. Reasonable guidance Bayushi-san."

A single step forward to meet Kokyou's challenge. A piercing glare towards the minor clansman and his action to physically interject between them. To openly protect the thief and impede the delivery of justice. "Shall we step aside and await the crane's arrival Mantis-san? Surely you don't mean to so publicly toss your lot with a criminal and express tolerance for such actions to the people?" Kichiro slowly waves an arm towards the gathering crowd around them. "Courtesy." Kichiro recites and takes two steps back to deescalate.

[Kakita Kenji]

Kenji reached the scene gasping. Sweat formed on his forehead. "I,... am... impressed... by your... speed, Kokyou-san, Kaidan-san."

It took him a moment to collect himself.

"What's going on?" he asked when he saw the tense scene.

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Kaidan looked at Kenji. "Well this young man..."He pointed to the peasant. "What is your name?" He asked the peasant. "Stole a loaf of bread to feed his sister and himself." He looked at the Lion. "Lion san here wants to process him and take the hungry man to be punished by the authorities. Kokyou here want to help the hungry soul and, well, give him some of the rations he has in the inn. I just wanted to wait on your decision since this is where you train and your homeland." The Bayushi explained. "Compasion or Duty, it is your choice."

[Kokyou]

"I surely will express compassion fer th' starvin'. Me testimony be that this young scallywag has no fault in tryin' t' feed his family. Th' collateral can be simply solved in me expenses." He bows to the Lion once more as he takes two steps back, and then to Kenji.

He cowers a bit but looks hopefully at Kokyou
