Hi V! Posted this in the Ability activation thread, but I think it actually belongs here.

Would Spell/ Kiho activation (and the rolls for them) happen before or after choosing which element to use for the Event?

Before.

You can attempt to activate one of each just before the event starts, then you choose your ring and do as the event says, noting that essentially each roll the event asks you to make is a "Round"

Wait, just to confirm - you can try to activate 'one of each' before choosing the ring and before the event starts? Asking cause I think I remember you saying you could activate either one or the other (or activate a spell, then spend a VP during the first 'round' to activate a Kiho).

For the sake of simplicity, I have updated the post in the Daily Information and detailed it all out, but yes, you can now attempt one activation of each before the event starts.

Is meditation void recovery still limited to one time per day during part 2?

Also on Void Recovery - we can ONLY recover Void between events if the Event mentions that possibility, right?

Sumai: Meditation possible after event, TN +10 due to wrestling
Heraldry: Nothing mentioned (but this is the last mandatory event of the day)

Day 3
Obstacle Course: Meditation possible after event. TN +10 if the character has fallen in the mud during the event
Horseback Riding: Meditation possible after event. TN +10 if the character has fallen in the mud (i.e. got bucked) during the event
Culture: Nothing mentioned (but this is the last mandatory event of the day)

Day 4
Weaponry: Meditation possible after event. No TN penalty as the Dojo is appropriate for meditation.
Artistry: Nothing mentioned (but this is the last mandatory event of the day)

Day 5
Law: Nothing mentioned (so apparently no way to recover Void between Law and Games events!)
Games: Nothing mentioned (but this is the last mandatory event of the day)

Day 6
Archery: Nothing mentioned (But should be possible to Meditate during Early Afternoon or Late Afternoon)
Hunting: Nothing mentioned (but this is the last mandatory event of the day worth TP points)

No descriptions of the Tournaments are available so far, so we don't know whether there will be opportunities to meditate between the Parts of the Tournament (or between rounds within the same Part).

I had completely forgotten about tea ceremony... I suppose it may 'not' be used between events unless there is a free time slot between them?

No, it isn't mandatory. It does not mandate a penalty for interrupted sleep.

As a local do I count as a guest for those rooms or would I be staying in the academy?

All players who are Kakita Duelists or Kakita Swordsmiths are housed in the Academy itself. The event thread is however open to all Crane players despite its forum location.
