[Bayushi Jiro]

Bayushi Jiro was here, dressed as a peasant, and interested in finding dirt. When I am running Kyuden Bayushi for Lord Bayushi, he thought, most likely some secrets will be placed under guard this way. But here I am, dressed like a servant, and from time to time a host will send a servant upstairs to fetch something...like documents or a forgotten kiseru to share with the Master Sensei of the Kakita Academy. Yes, that will do nicely.

With the air of a meek servant, Baysuhi Jiro approached the stairs to the second floor, looking as though he had every reason to be allowed to go about his business.

The Governor and Toshimoku are currently engaged in a tale the Governor is telling. Something about a great secret his city has and the secret only recently been discovered.

The guards pay no mind to Jiro. Allowing him to pass un-harasssed

Kaidan kept up with the conversation. So the guys found the secret city...now he probably boast that was him who found it. Kaidan remained expressionless as he continue to listen.

Meanwhile, upstairs, Jiro continued his search for either the private chambers or the offices of the Governor.

The second floor did not seem to hold any private rooms, intuition would say likely the information needed would be at the top floor, traditionally the private quarters for the Lord

In for a penny, in for a pound. Jiro headed up to the top floor like a servant on a mission. That crazy lord, always leaving his pipe next to his sensitive documentation! Making so much work for his poor servants!

“What business do you have in the Governor’s quarters?”

A guard at the top of the stairs calls out, stopping Jiro

[Bayushi Jiro]

"My lord the Lord Governor asked me to fetch his report on the new city for Kakita-sama." Jiro said, groveling in the understated way that peasants in high-frequency groveling areas develop.

The guard narrows his eyes but then steps aside.

"Very well. Be quick about it."

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Kaidan wondered where his brother could be. He still worked the floor of the hall where the 'party' is. Hopefully the governor will not call him to bring anything special. I wonder if in the garden there are 'medicinal' herbs.

[Bayushi Jiro]

Jiro bowed his acquiescence to the command and scampered upstairs. I have you now! Nothing excited a Scorpion quite like striking from below. Well, maybe striking from the shadows just where the ceiling meets the wall. That, generally, was pretty rad.

Now it was just a matter of finding the office and quickly finding something nasty, then planting something nastier under a floorboard.

Back on the first floor, a sudden hush comes over the room as an acting trope comes down the stairs and takes up position. with them, they have small wooden dolls, outfitted to mach the performers costumes. The room maneuvers itself to give the actors a stage, with the crowds all positioned to watch the show about to start.

Upstairs, the governor's room is...quite the mess. Papers are strewn about, open vials of ink with the brushes left in them, a ruffled futon, and clothes strewn about haphazardly. Clearly, the Governor did not believe in cleaning himself, nor apparently were servants allowed to do so for him.

Jiro found this...very strange. But a little chaos covered a search pretty nicely. Maybe it would give him an excuse if this took longer than he originally thought.

He also took the opportunity to tuck his forgeries into an unassuming, neglected pile.

There are many documents that could be considered of value. Reports that seem to be unanswered due to the number of repeated concerns from different dates for example

Jiro wracked his brain for what Kitsuki-sensei had implied about proper use of documentation. Would it be more effective to drop off documents like this to the Ruby Champion or...perhaps his father for use against this wayward Governor, or to leave them in situ for an investigation to discover? If he left them here and merely reported their existence, would anyone be able to use their contents against this waste of an official?

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Kaidan moved back to the kitchen but curious about the show, he didn't enter. He stood next to the door on the side allowing traffic flow freely.

The best course of action from listening to the lectures would be to hand the papers to someone with more status, but not describing how they were obtained.

Inside the kitchen man servants are gathered to eat what they can while the play goes on, this being their only chance to do so.

[Bayushi Jiro]

Jiro gathered up some papers, folding them securely and slipping them into his pants so as not to alert the guards. The damning forgeries would be left behind for someone to find if they chose to raid the offices--while pleased with their appearance, he wasn't sure whether they'd stand up to Agasha-sama's direct scrutiny.

Finally, he looked about for a report on the ancient city. He said that's what he'd been sent to retrieve, and if it wasn't in his hands when he passed by the guard, that guard might grow more suspicious. That would be bad.

Perception/Investigation to locate a report on the ancient city=15

Assuming this could be done, he would then swiftly make his way down to the gathering to pick up his brother and get out of Dodge.

The report is easy to find, though it was buried under some other papers, clearly ignored. The guard does not stop Jiro at all and as he makes his way down the stairs, he emerges into the first floor while the actors are performing a scene. While they all move and dance, the little dolls run around the stage without anyone seeming to manipulate them...

Jiro was a little amazed at the dolls, but knew better than to pause in his movements. It wasn't a servant's job to watch a play, and right now he was a servant. Better to get Kaidan and get out quickly. He picked his way through the crowd to appear at Kaidan's side.

"I've got them," he whispered.
