"Yes. Exactly. It feels as if that reserve has increased since I came here, and that ability to push myself beyond my limits... It feels as if that were replenished to some extent." He was reasonably certain of that. That was a good description. "Is that what was supposed to happen when I did that? I have never heard of a spell or prayer that could do that."

"Yes, though by now you should feel normal again, as if that well has emptied again."

"I feel... unchanged. Does it matter that the wellspring within myself was fully used up when we finished our lessons earlier on ... that other subject?" You know, the subject that an Ishiken should absolutely never, ever, ever, ever participate in because it made things a thousand times worse than it did with just any priest?

“Hmm, if you do not feel as if you were suddenly refreshed and then that refreshment slowly dwindling, it could mean you were so exhausted before this interaction brought you back to a place of normalcy. That is a good sign.”

She looks at Saburo again and then nods.

“Asako-San, I believe you to be like me, having a strong connection to the Void, and the ability to manipulate it unlike others. You are an Ishiken”

He looked mildly shocked. On the one hand? Every Isawa shugenja in training dreamed of having someone point at them and say 'you are an ishiken.' They were the rarest of the rare, selected among the ranks of the clan and generally trained as Tensai simply because Void magic was so rare as to be teeth on a hen. On the other, to become one was such a departure from any plans one made. One never knew what would be asked or expected of them, so far outside the norm. But, he knew one thing. It wasn't a thing to deny.

"I cannot doubt you, given your expertise, Asako-sama. But I am unsure what to do with this. Though we had thought to have me tested..." It had frankly been in part because it was a justification of his being privately tutored. "My actual tutor is a fire specialist. We do not have or know someone who is themselves an ishiken. I am sure the clan will make arrangements, but ... I do not quite know what to do next."

"I will handle it. You are to pack your things and be ready to be ready to leave immediately for Kyuden Iswa to begin your training. You are behind compared to those who were identified early, but with your training so far and innate aptitude, I do not believe it will be a problem."

[Asako Saburo]

"Of course, Asako-sama. I will make the arrangements and be sure that my possessions are packed and ready for departure," he said, bowing momentarily afterwards. "Simply send word and I will meet you, I assume tomorrow, for the travel." At this point, he certainly felt far more physically able to handle the rigors not only of the journey but also of the study under the tutelage of the Isawa masters.

And if he had to catch up? He had to catch up.

"We will depart after your training with Ikoma-sama."

She gives a shallow bow.

The bow was returned quickly. "I will see to it that I have a letter written to mother to be sent on, that my family is made aware, and make my arrangements. I thank you for taking the time to do this, Asako-sama. I will not disappoint you." As usual, the boy had kind of an overall issue with treating everything as a test, but still he was certain he would met this challenge.
