Second Line of Defense

[Iuchi Prashant]

"Ah", Prash says while waiting for Saburo's ok for getting his knife. "Thanks for your help, Doji-san. Just in case, hold on tight to your tanto! You might use it to defend yourself if it comes to that..."

[Asako Saburo]

"That's fine. Go ahead and use it," he said as he set himself to the door and positioned his body to block anything that might enter. There were non-combatants among the students, and while he did not think of himself as a real fighter, he was not about to let a goblin come in and ... he glanced around the corner.

"There are a lot less small things across... why is there a pit in the training yard?"

[Iuchi Prashant]

"Kärtse-ynāñm!", he says waving and nodding to Saburo as he gets the knife and starts producing bandages as well, not even noticing he hasn't answered him in Rokugani.

"Wait... what? A pit?", he turns to the Phoenix again wide-eyed while he continues working on the bandages.

[Asako Saburo]

"A pit. There is a wide pit covering almost the entirety of the training yard between here and the forge. What were the ashigaru doing when we were in the middle of our centering training?" he said, frowning. "No, wait. I don't think that was there before. I would have noticed. I do not know. Maybe that's where th... no, they were coming out of the forge. I don't understand at all."

[Iuchi Prashant]

Prash works on the bandages looking at Saburo wide-eyed for some more time. After making some more bandages (say, 10?), he snaps out of it and speaks again, walking towards a window carrying the bandages he had made.

"Wait, Asako-san... that sounds odd. They didn't.... come from the pit, then?" He gets closer to a window, carrying one other boken he saw in the room with him along with his usual training weapon and looks out.

"What... what is going on?"

[Doji Sakura]

Sakura went around taking sheets off beds and cutting them up as she was asked to. She didn't cut her own up, that would be silly! After cutting up two or three sheets she carried the bundle back to the Iuchi with the sneeze name and Saburo.

"Ano...is this enough sheets?" she held up the huge bundle in her arms.

[Asako Saburo]

Saburo looked levelly at the sheer number of bandages. "that is enough to mummify someone. I sincerely hope that is enough for this. The fighting has come to an end, so you may look for yourselves, but be careful. Someone will need to summon the healers, I think." He wasn't sure, but two people looked down at least, and there were lots of dead goblins all over.

And a very large pit. Yep. Definitely a pit. He was inclined t ask the earth kami about this.

[Kakita Kazuko]

Kazuko comes rushing in and grabs an armful (15) bandages before rushing out again.

"Thanks for the bandages!" she calls out as she scoops them up.

[Doji Sakura]

"Hi Kakita-sa-" Sakura started, bowing then looking confused.

"Ano..Kakita-san was in a hurry. Is Kakita-san out fighting?"

[Asako Saburo]

"Is the trouble passed?" he said, looking at her and giving the quickest of bows. Now was not the time for formalities. He stood out of Kazuko's way but remained in defensive posture, bokken now out and in his hands while he watched the pit for trouble. This was not a good situation, and they needed to permanently seal that blasted hole.

[Miya Wyn]

Wyn continued working on fortifying the northern paper walls with pieces of wooden furniture, leaving only the door way clear of the mess he was creating and trusting the Asako to protect that one funnel point. He turned looking over his shoulder and noticed the Jade tanto, "Wow that is beautiful"

[Doji Sakura]

Sakura dropped all the sheet bandages on the floor so people could get them, before moving away. She paused and smiled brightly at the Miya. "Thank you Miya-sama!" she took the Jade tanto out again so that Wyn (and Saburo) could see the glistening green tanto "it was seven long days of work but it came out really well!"

She put it back away and went back to sitting near her bed.

"At least the fighting is over."

[Iuchi Prashant]

"Kakita-san!", Prash says as he gives her a quick bow and nod and hands her bandages. "Do you need assistance with healing?", he asks? "Is everyone okay??"

He goes back to the sheets and prepares some more bandages, just in case, as he waits for an answer (if she ever gives one)

[Asako Saburo]

There was a distant roar and Saburo shook his head. "I spoke too soon. Something more is coming up. Remain at the ready. They are forming up for the defense again," he said, motioning for the non-combatants to stay back. He was going to guard this doorway at the very least. "We'll be ready for any of the wounded brought from the fight."

[Miya Wyn]

"Sakura, do you know any battle chants?"

[Iuchi Prashant]

"Pākri! That we will", he says as he prepares some more bandages (say, another 10?). When he's done, he moves closer to Saburo, ready to strike if one of the dreadful creatures approached. "This doorway will stand, Asako-san", he says, nodding at the Phoenix. "We'll make sure of that".

[Doji Sakura]

"Battle chants?" Sakura looked thoughtful, before shaking her head "my mother never sang any battle chants. More songs that would be sung in courts. I can sing some more of those."

[Miya Wyn]

"Perhaps something about the glory of the emperor?"

[Mai]

Mai comes in, a bit confused. "What's going on?"

[Miya Wyn]

Lots of Futons are stacked against the north wall, and shredded bed sheets piled near the door where the two shugenja stand guard. Wyn looks up at the Mantis, "Senseis and some students are fighting a horde of Goblins in the courtyard, we are preparing a fall back position and triage area" He says it with such earnestness and a straight face too. What kind of game /is/ this?
