The adventurers reach their destination at the mouth of the furnace after having searched for the secret place for a long, long time, while lost in the maze-like streets of Hirosaka that was filled with shady merchants selling from cabbages to everything else –– even their own mothers. Although many wouldn't deliver them.

"At last. Here we be me hearty, knowledgeable 'n trustworthy companion. Th' hidden mouth o' th' smoky forge." Kokyou places his arms at his waist. He winks to Kaidan and chuckles, already getting inside to find the merchant. "Now 'tis time t' barter fer our booty."

Yep, the adventures with Koidan pale in comparison with the pirate boy. "Any special ore you would like?" He wondered. "And who would be the lovely lady that will be granted such a gift?"

There is a stall with a makeshift traveling forge, a fire roaring and molten slag on the ground, molds filled with hot metals. On the front face of the stall are numerous refined bars of metal.

"Me fine 'n skilled blacksmith-san. Which be th' best metal ye would 'ave here t' forge a pair o' hardened 'n sharp blades... in th' size o' wee sickles? " Kokyou asks the merchant.

The merchant, a stout, strong heimin looks up from his work.

"Two steel bars should be enough to make as you describe."

He motions to them on the stalls shelf.

Kokyou takes a look, and gets his eyes back at the merchant, asking genuinely and innocently, "Are these good metal fer a humble man o' th' sea t' reap wha' th' Fortunes provide?"

The Heimin looks back from his work again with a puzzled look.

"Uh...Yes?"

Kaidan arched a brow and then shook his head. Right... sigh Kaidan knew little to about metals and not much about forging. As a lad who doesn't really care about the commerce. "You want to make her a knife?"

"3 bu, 5 zeni"

Further bartering uses Commerce as a roll, only one of you may attempt this.

Kaidan looked at the man and pouted. "My friend really needs this ore to impress a lovely lady and we are just two poor students hoping to find true love. We don't have that much money would you help a poor guy trying to find love?" Kaidan made sad puppy eyes.

"You say you have 3? That's normally what I just sell one for...but perhaps I can let it go for that. For the sake of Benten not cursing me."

"A pleasure doin' business wit' ye, me dear weaponsmith! Th' Fortunes will smile upon ye 'n pay in double." Kokyou pushes the coins forward and get the ores into his traveling pack.

Once outside, Kakyou taps Kaidan's shoulder, and nods, proud of his new friendship. "Ye scurvy seadog! Ye be such a convincin' personality, ye! Even I believed on that true love tale fer a moment. I tell ye. Outstandin' job. I be happy t' 'ave ye around. Wha''s next fer us t' do?"

"No sweat my friend. May be we can try more shenanigans tomorrow I am a bit tired." He covered a yawn. "I did some sparring in the dojo and my arms are a bit sore." Then he looked pensive. "A warm bath... could do the trick." He whispered to.himself.

"Thar has t' be a nice bath 'ouse out here. Wants t' try it out, or back t' th' dojo?" He asks, not pushing his luck too much since he already abused of Kaidan's friendship.

Kaidan nodded. "Better to go back to the dojo before anyone notices that we are missing." Then Kaidan smiled. "Now you owe me one." The boy grinned.
