by Kaito Kai
Kai had developed an interest in horses since her time at the special dojo.

That didn't necessarily mean she was any good at their care or riding them; it was a purely academic, a purely theoretical - in short, a purely Phoenix - interest in equines.

Still, the Kaito did well to saddle up her assigned mount and made a good, if pedestrian, effort at riding too and fro. She snatched up the flag, though returning to her riding position unsettled her mount. She wasn't thrown, but it didn't look good either, and Kai had to expend effort to calm her mount down.

Recovering well, Kai proved handy at lancing rings and managed to stick the return to starting position that time around with no incident, having learned a lesson about what the horse liked and did not like.

by Isawa Tanshin
Tanshin applauded as Kai returned to the starting point. "Very well done cousin!" He called.

Tanshin once again sought the assistance of the Kami to aid him in the competition. The Isawa were known to be masters of the elements, after all.
He once again sought the aid of the water kami to direct him to the correct path. He could feel the water kami excitiedly rush to his call, which he needed to temper, lest their will overcome his own.
