Kazuko ignores the sensei's suggestion, deciding to go for the tried and true strategy of just doing whatever she wants. There's no way she can lose to some oddly dressed boy even in an event she's not particularly skilled in, right? Like, who wears a silly turban in a sumai match? She smirks. No, of course she can't lose. Not in front of this many people. Especially not in front of Kotomi.

Hazrat balked initially at the idea of wrestling against a girl. It was not that he thought Kazuko an unsuitable opponent. Growing up around warrior maidens and fierce matriarchs had taught him to be just as wary of women as men. He simply hadn't participated in mixed wrestling since he was much younger. Blushing, he did his best to put his discomfort out of his mind.

Then he saw the frighteningly determined look on Kazuko's face and balked for an entirely different reason.
"Zhuanlun, Lord of Changes, smile upon me and grant me Good Fortune," he prayed.
Reversal of Fortunes Spellcasting Roll 5d10o10k3: 29

Taking the Earth stance and reaching deep down within his spirit, he tried his best not to be intimidated.
Contested Willpower roll against Kazuko's Intimidation + VP 5d10o10k5: 25
He recited a mantra, trying to find his center. "Zhuanlun, smile upon me."
Reversal of Fortunes Re-roll 5d10o10k5: 29 *using this roll*
He offered another player to the spirits and ancestors. "Spirits of Earth and Sky, guide me."
Luck Re-roll 5d10o10k5: 15
None of these things worked to make him any less intimidated.

He tried to even the odds by looking fearsome in return.
Intimidation / Willpower + VP 5d10k5: 32
It didn't quite seem like enough, however, so he recited his mantra again, feeling more confident as he did so. "Zhuanlun, smile upon me."
Reversal of Fortunes Re-roll 5d10k5: 39 *using this roll*
That seemed to work, although he wondered if she was just frowning at his turban.

Putting aside all those thoughts, he prepared for the contest and waited for the judge's signal to begin.
Initiative 4d10o10k3: 23 *using this roll*
As the moments passed by, he recited the mantra one last time. "Zhuanlun, smile upon me."
Reversal of Fortunes Re-roll 4d10o10k3: 15
He was so lost in his thoughts, that he barely had time to notice the bout was beginning.

OOC: No matter what I did, it looks like the dice just really wanted Kazuko to intimidate the heck out of me.

Similarly, Kazuko was also intimidated. Something about those colors was unsettling... Perhaps the turban was hiding more than meets the eye... Huh. Well, no time to think about it now, the round has started!

Kazuko tests his abilities in the first round. It seems that he isn't actually a threat, despite his intimidating look.

Well, that turned out to be surprisingly easy, although she grew a bit overconfident a few times. She bows to Hazrat then turns away without giving him a second glance. She needs to be able to focus to prepare herself for the next lesson and can't be distracted by anything, not even a strange, colorful turban wearing kid.

OOC: Sorry for ghosting, Kazuko. I ate something that didn't agree with me and it put me completely out of commission. And thank you for taking charge in my absence, Vutall-sama.

Hazrat reeled. The matches had taken place so quickly, leaving him almost no time to process what had happened. He'd done his best, but the girl's prowess matched her ferocity. He bowed upon the completion of the match and the announcement of the winner, and was about to congratulate Kazuko on her victory only to see her rush away without a word, stoic determination still written upon her face.

"I suppose that is the type of warrior I must strive to be like," he mused. "Unshakable and focused only on victory."

Straightening his turban, he left the ring.
