As the four samurai to be come running, they all gather together in the street. One of them must take charge, but who? A decision must be made quickly, or else the thief will get too far away and blend into the crowd!

All players must roll either a Courtier or Battle / Mental trait, adding their status rank as a static bonus to the roll. Air will be a more courtly approach, Earth a more calm approach, Fire a more commanding approach, and Water a more charming approach. The winner of this roll then must give an order:

"Catch them, quickly!" - Athetics / Strength will be used in the next step as players sprint after them
"There's a shortcut this way!" - Investigation / Intelligence will be used in the next step as players attempt to cut them off
"Don't loose sight of them!" Athletics / Stamina will be used in the next step as players steadily keep pace

Kenji remained calm when the four of them met. Between Kokyou who was once again too busy with himself, the unknown Lion and Kaidan, he quickly took the lead.

"Quick, let's catch him," Kenji said, preparing for a chase.

To catch the thief, all players must roll a number of Athletics / Strength checks with the TN being 30. For every failure, and every additional 5 below the TN the player fails by, the thief gets 1 band away.

The thief is 3 bands away to start.

Once all players have succeeded in catching up, or fall behind more than 6 bands, a "combat" will begin, with each player entering on the "round" they catch the thief on. (Players who are 6 or more bands away cannot participate)

For example, If Akodo Tempura succeeds on all three rolls without fail, he will enter on round 1. But if he passed one, failed and was set back 2, then passed four, he would enter on round 3.

The thief is quite quick, but Kaiden and Kokyou are able to catch up to him quickly, where Kenji and Kichiro fall quite far behind, eventually getting lost in the streets.

The thief looks to be a young man, slightly younger than the participants of the Championship. He wears a simple brown kimono, made from low quality material and does not carry a daisho.

As the three run, he shouts "Leave me alone!"

To stop the Thief, players now act in Initiative Order. (So please roll initiative)

On his turn (Last in init order), he is going to continue to attempt to run away, moving 45ft each turn. To bring him to a stop, players must get a hold of him by either tackling him or grabbing him.

Options:
Tackle! -- Athletics / Strength, TN 20, +5 to the TN for each roll you made in the first part of the chase in this event. Success deals damage equal to a rolled and kept value of your Strength. failure knocks you prone, putting you 40ft behind him.. You must be 0ft away to use this option.
Grab! -- Jiujutsu / Agility, TN 25. You muts be 5ft or less away to use this option. ((Additionally, please roll a Str check so the Theif can attempt to break free on their turn))
Catch Up -- Move your water ring x2 then x10.

The Thief is 5ft away since both participants caught up.
