Saburo had been informed that the sensei would be meeting potential pupils here, today, and so had made sure to keep his schedule open for it. When he opened the door, he caught sight of Sasaiko and smiled softly, bowing once. "I see you caught Bayushi-san's eye the other day, didn't you?" he rumbled out before taking a seat next to the Falcon, leaving the spot opposite for the sensei. "We just seem to run into each other often, do we not?" I was a small dojo, silly. This was unavoidable.

She returns the bow.

"I do not mind it, Asako-san. Rather the opposite, actually. And, yes, I had hoped to meet Bayushi-sensei here.

"But how has your day been, else?"

"The Magisterial lessons were ... informative. I performed sufficiently, but I found them far more educational than demonstrative." A momentary pause and he shifted in his seat, grunting as he did. He had hated sitting for Himeko's lecture later, not for the topic, but the sitting. Another grunt and he looked around. Just the two of them.

...

"I do not like horses, Sasaiko."

As the two converse, the Bayushi sensei enters the room and waits for the conversation to break before speaking.

She smiles.

Then she sees Moriko and bows deeply. "Bayushi-sensei, we are honored that you join us."

The bow is returned.

"You requested my presence? What is it you would like to learn from me today"

Ichiro arrives shortly after the sensei - offering a deep bow to the Bayushi and a shallower, but still polite one, to Saburo and Sasaiko.

There was a tiny bit of color in his cheeks, that looked like an almost fierce blush because of their pallor. Turning, he bowed to the Bayushi and cleared his throat once, rumbling out. "Bayushi-sama. Thank you for joining us." As he saw Ichiro enter behind her, he returned his bow as well. "Ah, Utaku-san. I believe we were expecting you as well."

Sasaiko bows.

"Will minna-sama take tea?"

Ichiro couldn't quite remember if something like tea should be refused or if that was only for proper gifts. Thankfully he was fairly certain he should let the higher ranking samurai answer first so he didn't need to stress too much about the response.

"Of course Toritaka-san," Saburo said nodding to her once the sensei had spoken. "I would be pleased to do so." It took a little load off that the Bayushi had agreed after all. Made things easier, and this gave him a chance to remember the ceremony as it was intended to be prepared, having practiced several times with the falcon in the past.

She tries, she really does, but it does not work (Tea Ceremony 18 against TN 25 for 4 participants). The fourth cup is just enough out of place that she spills over its side.

Face reddening at the failure, she bows to Moriko.

"Apologies, Bayushi-sensei. This one presumed too much to be able to serve appropriately."

She bows again.

And in front of him, too!

"Ah, there's no sense causing a scene because of spilled tea. Instead adapt the scene to fit what happened!"

"Beg pardon, Bayushi-sensei? This one fails to understand."

Saburo mentally noted to himself how much more difficult it could be the more people were involved for his own future reference, calculating all of that and filing it away. he nodded once when the Bayushi spoke, and gave Sasaiko a tiny little nod, not making any longer eye contact than necessary so as not to draw attention to her under the circumstances. "How might you recommend that, Bayushi-sama? Adaptation is part of the lesson we're here for, yes?" he said, right after Sasaiko, nodding to her. Make an omelette with a broken egg.

Ichiro watches the proceedings with great interest. This might not be the lesson he had arrived to learn but it does not mean that he could not take something from it.

"For example, you pour for all your guests first, that way when you come to your own and spill, you can make a joke or laugh about how you drank to much already and this was the kami reminding you to not be greedy."

So... in essence, one could play a moment of abject failure off as intentional, a joke and a way for the people to have a lesson in humility? Saburo considered that for a moment. It was almost a little sacrilegious to him, but it sounded a bit like Himeya's lesson that he'd been trying too hard when he was meditating. He glanced to Sasaiko curiously for a moment, gauging her reactions.
