Since Lore: Maho is a low skill, do we lose honor every time we use it outside of this event?

The Event you do not lose honor as it is in an academic setting and you are told to do it.

Wait, we get exceptional raises, not explosions... Right? Now I'm slightly confused

The exceptional rule grants you a free raise if you have the skill and you roll 10 over the TN.

But there is no such thing as an Unskilled Explosion on this skill (Unless you use void for a skill, and that's not unskilled)

You are correct, if you do not have the skill and do not use a void for +1k0, your dice do not explode.
