The New Winds

The Mantis boy poked the sleepy heads out of their futon with his feet. "Have a face full o' me foot ye jelly boned thumb suckin' crud buckets! Needs yer help."

Wyn sticks his head around a Shoji Screen, "What are you needing help with?"

"Preparin' a hot bath fer all these idiots. Kakita Toshimoko-sensei arrives today ye bunch o' fools. I can nah 'ave me crew stinkin' like bilge-drowned rottin' rats." He says, looking to Wyn.

"I don't actually think this is your crew, and most of them have bathed regularly this week" He looks confused

"Course 'tis. We all sleep under the same roof fer days. That's enough t' make everyone here into me crew. Like it or nah." He mentions waiving for him to come closer. "Now that ye're up. Stop tryin' t' argue 'n help me wit' the water buckets."

He shrugs and picks up a couple buckets, I mean it was chore hour after all. "Doesn't a crew work together for a common goal, we don't seem to be that united."

"Aye. I be workin' on that. Sorry. Me crew be rowdy, but I assure ye, when danger be afoot, we be mighty indeed." Kokyou comments while taking the another pair of buckets to the well so fetch water. "Imperial help would be mighty welcomed, though. Like... a badge or somethin'. Most scallywags would respect that."

"I am just a poor apprentice mapmaker, I don't exactly have badges to give out"

"Poor? Ye're an Imperial. Thar's naught poor on that. If we don't 'ave badges, we create 'em. We jus' needs some fun titles, perhaps a votin', 'n then we award 'em officially, or extra-officially if the grown-ups do nah wants t' deal wit' our owns magnanimity."

He looks confused a moment, and then nods, "Extra Official isn't the same as illegal is it?"

Kokyou waves his hand dismissively, reassuring, “ O' course nah. We’re sprogs. Naught we do be illegal. We be above the code o' conduct in some ways.”

He proposes, “ We can award the most charismatic, the most beautiful, the bravest, the smartest, the toughest, the most trusted 'n the most generous sprogs. Get 'em some sort o' trophies. I can work on that. Wha' ye reckon?”

"I could write out certificates, its like a second award ceremony, but how do we vote?"

“ Awards sound great. We can pin a parchment at the dorms door askin' everyone on the morrow mornin' t' vote fer these awards, 'n some paper 'n charcoal... I 'ave those... 'n an urn, or box... I can get that wit' the sensei.”

Kokyou said after filling the buckets with water.

Wyn fills his own buckets and nods, "I am more then willing to help out, I've developed decent hand writing over the last few days"

"Splendid. Write down congratulations fer the most voted. One fer each Loot's blessings. That would be great." He mentions, waving his hand forward as if writing in the air.
