Event: The Hirosaka Go Tournament

by Kakita Kenji
Everything started as a funny idea between teenagers. Now it was reality and not everything was going well. But if he followed Doji Sensei's advice, he could still save the situation.

In a large room in the dojo, several Go boards were set up. The price of this little event? A Golden Hairpin and the title: Student Go Master of Hirosaka.

Kenji stood at the entrance and welcomed his classmates. If any Sensei would show up, he would greet them friendly, after all they have been invited to watch.
Any player can participate in this event.

The event will continue until the end of the dog's hour.

After about 18h when this event is posted, the registration will be closed.

The player don't need the Go-Skill to participate

When the registration is closed, depending on the number of participants a tournament structure will be created and implemented.
(I'm fairly unsure if I'm allowed to post it that way or not, but Vutall gave me her blessing i guess?)
(please don't hurt me)

Bayushi Jiro was available for a casual competition. He offered a smile to Kakita Kenji. "I am here to register for your tournament, Kakita-san. What an excellent idea."

She bows. "Thank you for hosting this, Kakita-san."

He appears at the right time, not knowing if he would be organizator or player.

Ginkarasu knows he's going to get utterly defeated. But supporting new friends is worthwhile!

Shogi was a bit more popular in Nesrin's family...not that she'd learned to play that either. But the odd effects and insights of sitting very still the other day had, at least, given her a dawning appreciation for activities that weren't actually all that active. So she followed the announcement to the gathering and waited to see how this would all work.

He had no other plan for the evening so, while games were never much his thing, Ichiro decided to at least give it a go... pun unintended.

Prash had asked Ikoma-sensei about games just the day before, and... This wasn't the one they practiced, but as he felt while training with him, maybe games in general could be seen as a way to know oneself and one's opponents better.

If nothing else, that could be a chance to learn. Why not try?

This event was going to be fantastic. It had to be, or else Doji sensei would be proven right and she didn't want that. Excited at seeing the amount of students come join, she helps welcome classmates with Kenji which conveniently gives her an excuse to stand next to and talk with him before the tournament starts.

(Kazuko will join if there's an odd number of participants. Otherwise, she will step out as an organizer)

Haruki has been a little too cooped up thinking about doing his best at everything. Maybe just playing a game can calm his nerves. "I'm game, what are we playing?"

After a small group of his classmates had arrived, Kenji opened the tournament.

"Dear Fellow Students! It is a special honor to welcome you here today. We will start with the Go tournament soon. For those of my classmates who don't know the game, I'll explain the rules briefly"

Kenji then briefly began to explain the game.
Registration is closed, the following players will take part in the tournament:

Bayushi Jiro
Toritaka Sasaiko
Miya Wyn
Kaiu Aiichiro
Yasuki Ginkarasu
Utaku Nesrin

After Kenji gives his explanation, Doji Murashige takes her place in the front of those gathered.

"It is good to see so many from all of the clans gathered here today to partake in something more than is expected of them. Your sensei would be proud to see. May the fortunes be on your side this evening!"

"It is an honor to receive you Doji-Sensei" Kenji said and welcomed her with a deep bow.

Kenji then went on to open the tournament.
He explained the rules for this event:
Each participant rolls once with Games:Go/Intelligence against each other player.

To avoid confusion I ask the players to write in Oroks the player they are throwing against in the description.

Please make only one post with all throws. You can put Fluff in afterwards.

The 4 players with the most winnings at the end of the game will be allowed into the semi-finals. If there is a tie-breaker, another game is played between these players.

The winners of the semi-final will form the players for the final.

The winner of the final will receive as a prize a golden hairpin from the hands of Doji Sakura, a certificate of the title of Student Go Master of Hirosaka and a calligraphic artwork from the hands of Kakita Kazuko.
"And now, the Hirosaka Student Go Tournament is officially opened. Please have fun everyone and give you best" Kenji ceremoniously announced before sitting next to Kazuko and Doji-sensei.

Ichiro had never played go before but it seemed he picked up the basics easily. Likely not enough to triumph but he didn't embarass himself either.

Prashant had hardly any experience with games, let alone with Go, but he had heard a bit about the game before, and it was a fitting second experience with games for his time at the Dojo.

He remembered his conversation with Ikoma sensei before playing Kemari the day before - a contest of wits - and also his own reflections about it.

Games could be a way to find one's shortcomings and improve oneself, more than simply a competition. He focused on that thought as he played - and it seemed to guide him quite well.

OOC

Day 8 Rooster - Games Go/Int vs Bayushi Jiro - unskilled: 4d10k4 20 - Prash wins by only 5!
Day 8 Rooster - Games Go/Int vs Toritaka Sasaiko - unskilled: 4d10k4 30
Day 8 Rooster - Games Go/Int vs Miya Wyn - unskilled: 4d10k4 22 - Prash wins by 9
Day 8 Rooster - Games Go/Int vs Kaiu Aiichiro - unskilled: 4d10k4 19 - It's a tie!
Day 8 Rooster - Games Go/Int vs Utaku Nesrin - unskilled: 4d10k4 23 - Prash wins by 12
Day 8 Rooster - Games Go/Int vs Utaku Ichiro - unskilled: 4d10k4 22 - Prash wins by only 5!
Day 8 Rooster - Games Go/Int vs Kaito Haruki - unskilled: 4d10k4 15 - Haruki wins by 7
Day 8 Rooster - Games Go/Int vs Yasuki Ginkarasu - unskilled: 4d10k4 16 - Prash wins by 7

So far 5 wins, 1 loss, 1 tie. Still the game with Sasaiko to go.
