Seeking the Wisdom of the Mountains - (NPC/Training)

by Asako Saburo
Saburo settled himself into the chamber where courtly lessons had been performed for a late-day training session. He had sent a politely worded request to the Kitsuki Sensei and now, hopefully she would be able to further guide him in the matters of the court from another perspective. The scorpion and Crane had their own, but he had every estimation that theirs was not the only view of the ways and flow of the courts. And with each new perspective, his understanding of that strange world would grow.

Mai approached him. "Hello Asako-san. How are you today?"

"I am alive and ... reasonably well today," he said, shifting in his position and bowing to Mai. "Any chance I can get to avail myself of additional training from the sensei who are present is a good one. It has been significantly broadening my understanding of topics I will be able to use in my career, but which I am not likely to receive detailed tra..."

"...."

"I am growing more aware that I always seem to speak of duty and business, do I not?"

As the two students converse, the Kitsuki enters the room and quietly takes her place in the front, waiting for what is sure to be even more to arrive.

Mai bowed to him when he noticed her.

"Yeah. Why do you think I told you should come to the Isles sometime? But it's not too bad. It's part of your charm."

Haruki enters the room, notices the sensei, then bows in order of propriety, ending facing Asako-san. "Indeed you do, but that's what happens when you tunnel vision onto one specific goal, is it not?"

He bowed to the sensei when they arrived, but did not press. There would be more coming. He had seen several draw attention the previous day, and Tai Yu was known for familiarity with several topics. He allowed himself a very thin smirk, nodding to the two of them. "My charm... an interesting way of putting it. I am rarely graced to be called charming. Kaito-san is correct. I have had for many years a very ... focused education. The shift in focus has been... interesting."

Mai bows to the sensei and the other Phoenix when they enter. She nods to Saburo's words. "I know what you mean. I never thought I would enjoy battles and tactics so much, but I have found it very interesting."

((OOC: Mai's player is going to sleep and then work. Just assume she bows and greets everyone who enters. She is here for Investigation.))

Kazuko peers inquisitively into the chamber before stepping in.

"Is Kitsuki sensei here? Ah, hello, do you mind if I join in for some additional training?"

"Certainly. I expect many will seek me out today. Shall we begin everyone?"

"Yes, lets." Replied a latecomer to the training session with a grin.

Zashi slips into the room.

This is supposed to be about investigation training, right? Let's see if they can notice me then.

The lecture proceeds from the concepts of negotiation to the concept of observing others to understand how to best offer proposals

As the lecture on observation continued, Matsu Qiang immediately attempted to put it to use, eyeing all the other students carefully, as if he could discern their dark secrets by doing so.

The last arriving student looked especially suspicious, he thought. Was he some kind of Fox spy? What nefarious activities could he be up to?

"Sensei, how do you discover what is what the other side truly desires, and what are they using as a bargaining position? There must be a way to parse it while you're in the process"

Each of the others who arrived to listen to the lecture got an individual bow. None of them were truly surprising, other than perhaps the Doji, but really she had surprised him in the past, so was now truly any different? He listened to the lecture quietly, allowing each point to flow over him and focusing on the various clan approaches to the subject of proper conduct. it was the comparison that was valuable. If there was one thing he wanted to understand before he left this dojo, it was how to avoid offense.

He... was passing fair at that.
