Lost Amid the Noise and Confusion

[Bayushi Jiro]

If there was one thing a Scorpion had ingrained in them from birth, it was how to make use of a distraction. The commotion---whatever it was---was probably pretty serious, judging by the shrieking. Someone would have to be informed! Of course, if that someone was not actually in their rooms and was unable to protect their documents because they were busy elsewhere, at least the Bayushi could say that they tried.

Thus, armed with quickness and quietness, Bayushi JIro came to the door of the Ruby Champion. Now, where was the trigger for that blasted alarm?

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Knowing his cousin, Kaidan followed behind. A courtier should always be protected by his yojimbo. It was the Scorpion way. Lighted by moon light he tried his best not to be seen. He was a ghost. He knew about the alarm system so he tried to find the ward.

The two spot a freshly painted character on the doorframe of the champions room. Intuition would say that it is the ward.

[Bayushi Jiro]

"Well, that's not great." Jiro looked to Kaidan. "Maybe the window doesn't have a ward?"

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Kaidan nodded. "Maybe we should have brought Soshi san." He whispered back. They continue to move to the window.

[Bayushi Jiro]

Bayushi Jiro carefully checks the window for another ward.

Investigation=10, because Jiro is very consistent.

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Kaidan instead checks for secret doors and exits.

There are no secret entrances or exits, but the window is indeed warded.

[Bayushi Kaidan]

"No secret doors... Maybe we should give it a try even if the alarm is triggered. Hopefully they will think it was part of the invader's plans." Kaidan suggested.

[Bayushi Jiro]

"My concern is that the ward does more than set off an alarm. What if it...I don't know, turns us into something unpleasant?"

[Bayushi Kaidan]

"The room one was an annoying sound. I thank the Kami that I was able to escape." He remembered the last time he infiltrated. "We could try the roof... there might be an opening that we could take some advantage." Kaidan suggested.

[Yogo Otoko]

Otoko was a priestess. She wasn't meant for these sort of things, but she was a Scorpion. That meant she would be somewhat nearby if the Bayushi asked, and they had.

Having gotten a signal of some sort, the tall Yogo made her way over to where the other two Scorpion were. Being shown the ward, Otoko had a moment of internal irony before looking it over.

Otoko has a familiarity with the ward and can disable it.

[Bayushi Jiro]

Jiro beams at his kinsman. "Excellent, Yogo-san! Now, let us find out what Agasha-sama feels the need to protect."

He peered through the window before entering, just to make sure that Agasha-sama was not actually present in the room so that they would not get in real trouble.

[Yogo Otoko]

After disabling the ward, Otoko made her way back away from the others. A bird whistle would get her attention again if need be, but she was sort of a... lookout.

The room was empty

[Bayushi Kaidan]

Kaidan came in behind Jiro. Waving a thanks to the Yogo. Seemed that the room was empty. Looks could be deceiving.

[Bayushi Jiro]

Contributing his own searching skills, Jiro began the hunt for documents or other sources of information.

Investigation/Perception=9. He was alright at this sort of thing. Not brilliant, but then gempukku wasn't for another few weeks.

There are letters concerning a great many different things. Correspondence, testimony, tax reports...It seems that the Ruby Champion still has a large roll in the official duties of the Emerald Office.

[Bayushi Jiro]

Jiro began looking through the documents for anything damning, whether of the Ruby Champion or other figures. If he had anything to say about it, the private, Scorpion gempukku of the Bayushi bros was going to be the most successful in living memory.
