Event: Blood Money

by Vutall
During the depth of the night, cloaked by the cover of the storm, a small group of black clad adults sneak over the walls over the dojo and make way to the student barracks, bee lining to the Unicorn section. They each approach the sleeping students and hover menacingly over them, poised to strike...

Participants: Unicorn Only for the first round. Additional students may enter as they wake up to the noises of the fighting at a rate of +1 student per round.

This event will interrupt your sleep, preventing void refresh, spell slot regeneration, and will make you fatigued for day 4, giving you +1 to all of your TNs.

Unicorn characters, Please roll an Investigation/Perception roll at TN6. On a success, roll your initiative. On a failure, you skip your round 1 as you are fast asleep.

Students start the combat Prone.

c Prone – A prone character is lying fl at on his back, side, or stomach, and cannot move, attack, or defend himself to full effect. A prone character immediately suffers a -10 penalty to his Armor TN against melee attacks. This penalty lasts until he stands up. He cannot use Move Actions, and may only adopt the Defense or Attack Stances. He cannot attack with large weapons, and suffers a -2k0 penalty to attacks with medium and small weapons. It requires a Simple Action to stand up from the prone position.

Ichiro's eyes snapped open and he managed to shake one of the unicorn near him as he put his arms in a defensive position ready to spring up and attack if he had to. There was no fear in his eyes only defiance.

Nesrin had fallen asleep listening to Banling sing, possibly the soft footfalls of the black clad strangers alerted him, but he stopped and the sudden silence woke her.

She rolls aside to where she's left her stick beside her bed, grabbing it as she stands and moves to defend herself and her companions. "Hey! What're you doing here?"

Initiative 13
ATN until standing: 5 +4 for stance
ATN when no longer prone: 15 +4 for stance

edit: right, stance! Defense to start since she's piled up a batch of free/simple actions there.

Ichiro was, this time, a light sleeper. Snapping awake he took in what he could from the position. Clearly this was another drill. Some sort of surprise attack training. He would pass!

Horses were running in the distance as Prash stood, looking at a beautiful sunset. The world was peaceful.

Then a weird cloud covered the sun. Oddly enough, the cloud sounded a bit like hushed footsteps.

Wait, that wasn't a cloud. That looked like a hand. "Wait, what??", Prash thought - and actually said aloud - as he snapped awake and suddenly saw the black clad men and all his clansmates - thankfully - already awake.

He tries to extend his hand to grab his amulet satchel and boken, but his arms get stuck in his blanket for a moment, so he takes some time to react.

What would they want us to do in this situation. Right: raise the alarm, protect the weaker, take out the foe.

"We're under attack! Guard Prashant!" His voice is loud enough to carry through the sleeping area.

Ichiro rolls to his feet and places his body between the 'uke' and the prone shugenja.

Grappled – A character who is participating in a grapple is considered grappled. Characters who are grappled are much easier to hit with attacks, and have their Armor TN reduced to 5 plus any bonuses from armor they are wearing.

All characters involved in the grapple must make a Contested Jiujutsu / Strength Roll. The character with the highest result on this roll is considered to be in control of the grapple until the next character’s Turn. A character who has control of a grapple may do one of the following things on his Turn:

c Hit: As a Complex Action, the character may infl ict normal unarmed damage on any one other participant in the grapple. This damage cannot benefi t from Raises, as there is no attack roll being made. Free Raises can still be applied, however.

c Throw: As a Complex Action, the character may throw one opponent, causing them to become prone anywhere within fi ve feet of the character performing the throw. This removes the thrown character from the grapple.

c Break: As a Simple Action, the character may immediately remove himself from the grapple.

c Pass: As a Free Action, the character may do nothing, choosing to maintain the grapple and retain control.

((Grappled characters, please at the start of your turn, roll the juijutsu/strength check. if you beat the opponent, you have control and may take an action above. If still grappling, then roll another juijutsu/str check))

Prash was slow to react and his usually peaceful face turns to a mix of worry and resolute defiance as he sees two of the brutes grab both Ichiros' arms.

He finally gets rid of his blanket and gets a grip on his amulet satchel by his bedroll as he manages to stand up.

"Thieves?? What do you mean, thieves??", he yells, indignantly.
