Dirt & Grime & Curses

Yesterday, Otoko had cleaned and straightened the weapon racks. Today, the bushi students had just messed them up again.

She would leave redoing the work she'd done the day before to them. There was certainly a part of the fatalistic Yogo that wished to just let dirt and disorder take their toll, but in the end, she decided that she would clean the shoji screens in the barracks. That was close enough to the dojo after all, and she had been made curious about the tales of what had happened the night before. She straightened and lightly dusted the screens, and made certain to find any holes and note them for patching. Not that she had anything to patch them with...

Dao was in relatively high spirits after the Athletics training event, so he whistled softly as he swept, offering a smile and nod to the Yogo whenever the path of his work brought them into proximity. His curled hair bounced around his head as he moved, almost swaying to the rhythm he was creating for himself with his musical tune.

Otoko raised an eyebrow at the peppy sweeping Dragon, though it hardly showed with her mask. She offered him a bow and a polite, "...Togashi-san," before looking at another screen. He seemed to have a rich internal world, and she wouldn't interrupt it if he didn't wish her to.

"Ohayo Yogo-sama," comes the perky reply, with a necessary lull in the whistling. "I'll try not to sweep any dust on the screens, wouldn't do for my efforts to make more work for you."

"... A little dust never mattered. And I am a student, not a sama. Yogo Otoko." She paused in her cleaning and inspection as she spoke.

"Ahhhh." Dao sheepishly stammers, rubbing the back of his head in shame. "Apologies, just a habit Yogo-san. I'm just used to calling everyone sama, I'm still not great at reading ranks and status and stuff."

"I just want to say thanks, for helping with the dojo. I think the bushi in training manage to make more mess than the other groups combined. Speaking of which, I didn't see you in with us today. Do you train with the priests? Or are you a great artist to be?"

Her head tilted to the side a bit like a curious dog. "...I did not think I appeared much like a bushi. I, like most of my.... family... am a priestess."

"If there is one thing I have learned so far, it is that appearances can be deceiving. I apologize if my ignorance caused offense though." Dao offers a deep bow of apology to Otoko.

The tall girl merely shook her head slowly. "...No offense. Presumption can be fatal. Doubt can be healthy. Ignorance can be cured."

Starting to sweep again, although mostly for the soothing motion as the floor was almost spotless by now, Dao politely kept his gaze down as he continued to chat and smile.

"I think I need a big dose of curing then." He joked at his own expense. "There's still so much I don't know about this world, but we're still young yet, neh?"

"...Even Shinsei and Togashi-Kami knew that they did not know enough. That is why they both sought knowledge. There is always more to learn, at any age." She too went back to her work as she spoke. She had made a promise about the shoji after all, and she would not stop until they were all most certainly patched.
